Longxiang Film (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. [Hong Kong]

Plot:

This film is one of the few films that portrays Yongzheng as a positive role. It tells the story that Yin Zhen, the Fourth Emperor, met with folk masters, with the help of Shaolin monks and chivalrous men, revised the testamentary edict, killed the Dragon Prince and finally ascended the throne.

The film was shot in 1978, when Tommy Tam was only 32 years old. In his prime, he played Yongzheng, upright and handsome. It can be said that he is the least like Yongzheng, or an "alternative" Yongzheng. In addition, Chen Xing's Long Keduo, Tan Daoliang's Bai Taiguan, Mu Sicheng's Gan Fengchi and Shi Zhongtian's Shaolin monk all performed brilliantly in the film. Tommy Tam's wife, Tao Minming, also made a guest appearance in this film, playing Lv Siniang. In the second half of the film, Tan Daoliang and the eunuch guarding the Justice Hall rob the testamentary edict, and the fighting scenes between Chen Xing and Shi Zhongtian are very interesting.
