1In March, 1999, the Intermediate People's Court of Fuyang City, Anhui Province sentenced the defendants Zhou Jikun and Zhou Jiahua to death and sentenced them to life imprisonment. Zhou Zhengguo and Zhou Zaihua were each sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment. After the verdict was pronounced, the five defendants refused to accept the appeal.
