Why is Taoism not as popular as Buddhism in China now?

Buddhism is similar to neighborhood committees, while Taoism is similar to public security bureaus. Everyone in the neighborhood Committee enters and needs to do ideological work. The public security bureau has nothing to do, no one enters, does more, says less, is strict in management, and its natural affinity is not as good as others.

The threshold is different. It is quite difficult for Taoist practitioners to get started. Most people just talk about it and read the classics for a living. There are very few Taoist priests who really practice now.

Too many liars deceive themselves. The truth is unknown, there are many superstitions and few true beliefs. I don't know myself, but I'm still skeptical about how to attract people. It's not as clear as Buddhism, but it's probably the so-called threshold. You need to read and know yourself before you start. This is not what Master should give you. Those who can go up by themselves have a greater chance of going down later. You can't go far by others after all.

The content of Taoism is very complicated. As a religion, its folk color is very strong, and it is eclectic in various folk beliefs. There are many places full of gods, buddhas and superstitions, and it is not easy to gain the trust of intellectuals. Moreover, it has not developed a complete theoretical system like Buddhism, which is not only taken from Taoist thought, but also fundamentally different from Taoist thought and has many contradictions, which is not enough to coordinate the differences between sects on the ideological level. For example, Dante and Fu Yong are two very different things. In a word, Taoism is not as mature and complete as Buddhism, whether in the ideological level or in the specific religious level (Taoist rituals and the compilation of Taoist scriptures are borrowed from Buddhism).
