How to be a Buddhist?

There are four stages in learning Buddhism: belief, interpretation, action and proof;

The first is "faith", that is, to establish faith and believe that learning Buddhism is to understand one's own heart, get rid of emotional control, understand one's own inner self and understand the laws of the universe.

The second is "Xie", which is a bit difficult, because you have to meet a real monk to teach you the meaning of Buddhism, so I suggest you choose Zhao Puchu's "Answers to Buddhist Common Sense" first. Zhao Puchu is the second president of the Chinese Buddhist Association and one of the four eminent monks in modern times, so it is the best as an introductory textbook.

The third is "walking", where monks take you to practice, such as chanting, giving alms, worshipping Buddha and meditation.

The fourth is "proof", that is, through the above three links, you have personally proved that what monks and Buddhist scriptures say is true, not false, and you have begun to slowly embark on the road to becoming a Buddha.

Therefore, learning Buddhism is to get rid of the ultimate concern of life and death by bodhicitta, doing good deeds, accumulating virtues, increasing wisdom, eliminating karma and accumulating blessings, and finally achieving positive results.
