After reading The Scholars for the second time, I met a famous scholar in history, a late bloomer who failed the exam-Mr. Zhou Jin.
At the end of Chenghua in Ming Xianzong, there was a teacher named Zhou Jin in Wenshang County, Yanzhou, Shandong Province. He is an old man with a gray beard and an old hat on his head. In order to get ahead and win glory for his hometown, he took the imperial examinations many times, but in his 60 s, he couldn't even pass the examination for a scholar. One day, he and his brother-in-law came to the provincial capital and walked into Hiram's Hospital. Zhou Jin was deeply saddened that he was not admitted by a scholar. He hit the license plate and was unconscious. After being rescued, he rolled around and cried blood. Seeing that he was pitiful, several businessmen donated two hundred and twenty pieces of silver and bought him a Guo-zi-jian diploma. So he immediately kowtowed to the businessman who donated his diploma and said, "You are my second-generation parents, and I will wait on you when I become a donkey or a horse in the future!" " "Soon, Zhou Jin finally admitted to the Juren with the qualification of Guo Jianzi. In an instant, people who are not relatives also come to recognize relatives, and people who are not friends also come to recognize friends. Even the school where he teaches has a "longevity card" dedicated to "Master Zhou Tai". A few years later, he was elected as a scholar, promoted to the imperial history and assigned to Guangdong to study Taoism.
Zhou Jin failed in the exam many times, but he was not discouraged at all. He can impress those businessmen who are mercenary. He volunteered to spend money to donate a Guo Jian Zi for him to do it. Later, I was admitted to a scholar, but I was not complacent. Instead, he continued to work hard and was admitted to Juren. Finally, he won the Jinshi and was promoted to imperial academy.
Under the ancient imperial examination system, businessmen still spent money to buy a Guo Jianzi for Zhou Jin. I won't comment here, but what I want to say is that I see a bright spot in Zhou Jin, that is, "losing gracefully and winning without arrogance", which is worth learning from our future generations.

After reading Chapter 14 of The Scholars, I saw a completely different scam from the previous 12 chapters.
Ma Cuo is a well-known person. He always regards fame as dirt, leads an honest and clean life, and enjoys visiting famous mountains and rivers. On one occasion, he was entrusted by others to come to Hangzhou Hanwen Building to revise his book. When he arrived in Hangzhou, Ma Cuo took the opportunity to visit the West Lake and many beautiful scenery in the south of the Yangtze River, which made him linger. Walking, he came to a cave. Just as he was about to draw lots, an old man suddenly appeared beside him. Seeing that he had a long white beard, the horse really looked like a fairy in the New Year pictures, so he asked him, "Dare you ask the name and longevity of the fairy?" "Mr. Er, nicknamed Hong, is over 300 years old this year." Ma Blunt was shocked. He thought, is he really a fairy? How else would he know my name? "You have met the old fairy, you don't have to draw lots to predict your fate. Please come with me! " Mahbulun followed Mr. Hong, who claimed to be a fairy, and they came to a secluded place. Fairy Hong said to him, "This is my home." When they entered the house, they saw that the "immortal" wrapped a dozen pieces of black charcoal in paper and said to Ma Blunt, "If you light this black charcoal with fire, it will burn out tattooed silver." Hearing this, Ma Su immediately returned to his residence and set a fire. Unexpectedly, more than a dozen ingots of sycamore were actually burned. Soon, Ma Cuo heard the news of the death of the "immortal" Hong. Ma CuO hurried to offer his condolences. He said sadly to the dead "immortal" Hong: "You are immortal. How can a fairy die? " "Who said he was a fairy? He is only in his sixties this year. " Hong's family said. The horse thought stiffly, they must be lying to me. Hong "immortal" once gave me a dozen pieces of black charcoal to burn, and all the glistening silver was burned out. Can this be fake? "Little imagine, it was Mr. Hong who wrapped the silver in black charcoal at his own expense in order to get the reputation of the immortal. Seeing the story here, I feel sad for a horse who is a celebrity but doesn't know that there are no immortals in this world! I also feel sorry for Mr. Hong, who dreams of a fairy in name only!
From this story, I saw both the horse's ignorance and Hong's stupidity as a "fairy". Ironically, Mablunt is a famous person who believes such a clumsy scam. It is even more ridiculous that Hong's Immortal pretended to be a fairy, but he did not hesitate to lose his own money for a false name. After reading this story, I think of the people and things I hear and see from time to time around me, such as those who go to see pictures in groups and burn incense to worship Buddha. What's the difference between what they do and the ignorance of horses? How many people like Hong, such as many students in the senior high school entrance examination and college entrance examination, failed to pass the exam because of their poor grades, and in order to be admitted to the school, they did not hesitate to spend money to buy a prestigious school. What's the difference between this practice and Hong's stupidity?

The officialdom is dark, the politics is corrupt, and the literati are involved in the struggle between fame and loyalty ... I have a book in my hand and seem to see the literati's modality at that time; Love money like life, put on airs, and do whatever it takes for status ... This book is a famous satirical novel-The Scholars!
The Scholars mainly tells a series of events in which intellectuals were destroyed by the fatuous imperial examination system. Some are beaten weak by this bad habit, some are washed away and even forget the basic etiquette, and some are morally corrupt and pretentious. ...
After reading this book, I am filled with emotion: under the temptation of money, everyone can't lift his head! Of course, I also saw a pearl shining in the dark. He is the original cowherd Wang Mian. His family is poor, but he is smart by nature and likes reading, so he bought some old books with the money saved by herding cattle. He is aboveboard, does not seek fame and fortune, and is indifferent to being an official. He just wants to study, sell paintings and live a free and unrestrained life. Isn't Wang Mian's excellent qualities of being diligent and eager to learn, attaching importance to wealth and righteousness exactly what we should learn? There are also some corrupt officials in society, such as the son of the family, who spends money like water, eats, drinks and plays all day, idles around, and has no real skills, but keeps boasting. If such a person is allowed to run a society, the society will be filthy. If such people are allowed to run a country, it will be corrupt. ...
A country grows up by intellectuals, so we must eradicate bad habits, achieve the good habit of diligence and thrift, and make our country more prosperous and strong!

The Scholars written by Wu, a scholar in the Qing Dynasty, is characterized by satire, which reflects the fame and wealth status of Confucian scholars in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and also profoundly exposes the decay of scholars' psychological concepts, imperial examinations, ethics and corruption in the feudal social system. It is still very warning.
Since I have written my thoughts after reading, I want the writer to experience them. Only by combining them can I have feelings to write. Wu, the author, is a scholar in Qing Dynasty who hates the secular world and is full of resentment. In the officialdom, he saw through many ups and downs and many entanglements, thus writing The Scholars. This book creates vivid characters in the form of stories, and the descriptions of the characters in the stories represent the author's views on the state of affairs in feudal countries. Mr. Lu Xun once commented that this book is euphemistic, sharp and straightforward, and it is a classic of realistic literature, which shows the success of this book.
Reading "The Scholars" made me see the stubbornness of the ancient feudal dynasty, eating people and harming people. But it reminds me of China now. China today is not China in the past; Now China is a socialist country, a people-oriented country that holds high Lenin and Marxism. Now China is struggling for the rise of the Chinese nation and the realization of the "Chinese Dream", which makes our Chinese sons and daughters feel extremely proud. However, on our way forward, there are still some stumbling blocks, such as increasing corruption, imperfect legal system, lack of supervision by many government agencies, environmental degradation and so on, all of which need our patience, meticulous and serious solution.
Let's take action and do our best to build a strong, democratic and beautiful China.

The Scholars is a satirical novel and a vivid social picture. The Scholars is an objective and true book, which describes the society as a scholar, a scholar, a famous scholar and an ordinary citizen. At the moment, I am still sighing.
At that time, I thought that career was above everything else, so the literati wrote those eight-part essays, thinking that as long as they had fame, they would be superior. So the ugliness hidden behind this psychology is reflected. Have you noticed that Liang Hao, who won the top prize at the age of 80, and Zhou Jin, a little friend with a gray beard, have been ecstatic for decades, and they are haggard for fame and fortune, and their clothes are getting wider and wider, and they have no regrets. But how many people will be good officials when they become famous and really work for the people? Xu was appointed as the magistrate of Nanchang. The first thing he did after taking office was not to ask about the local public security, people's livelihood and the public opinion of the case, but to ask about the local people's feelings, to know what the local specialties are and where to be flexible in various cases. After that, I customized a No.1 library, handed over all six rooms in the yamen, asked about the profits of various errands, and asked everyone to transfer the money back to the government. From then on, the sound of castanets, abacus and boards was heard all day in the yamen. Chiefs and people were beaten out of their wits one by one, shivering in their sleep. However, his own creed is to be a magistrate for three years and a hundred thousand snowflakes. When the imperial court inspected his achievements, it was agreed that he was the first able person in Jiangxi. But compared with them, Wang Mian appeared at the beginning, with four old men in the middle and four strangers at last. They are ordinary people who have no social status and are outside the ruling order. Their simplicity, enthusiasm and indifference are in sharp contrast with the ugly Confucian scholars and officialdom.
And those rich rich people are rich and heartless. Gong Sheng Yanzhizhong is a bully in the village. He fenced his neighbor Wang Xiaoer's pig, and when others came to beg, he attacked and broke the legs of the Wang Xiaoer brothers. He blackmailed people everywhere, not lending money to others, but forcing them to pay interest; He described the cloud cake as a valuable medicine, threatened the boatman and lost a few dollars. After Yan Jian's death, as a brother, he forced his sister-in-law to adopt his second son as his son, seeking to seize his brother's property, and claimed that this was a distinction between courtesy and righteousness, but our squire family could not make mistakes in these gifts.
These numerous gaffes also illustrate the depravity and shameless, political ugliness and social corruption of the literati class under the dark rule of the Qing Dynasty. Hundreds of years later, I picked up The Scholars and read it carefully. Sometimes I sigh for the vulgarity and absurdity of literati and celebrities at that time, and sometimes I am angry for the meanness and ugliness of corrupt officials. With his humorous language, Wu vividly portrayed the decadent and dark side of the imperial examination system in feudal society. No wonder later generations are careful not to read The Scholars. Reading it is actually a kind of daily entertainment, not a sigh of The Scholars.
6,500 words for a scholar
I seldom read novels before, and I always thought that novels were nothing more than plots, and it was no big deal. As long as I want, I will write ups and downs. I still like beautiful things very much, and I am also interested in sentimental feelings. This time, I was idle and bored to read The Scholars, and I had a feeling that The Scholars didn't have.
Wu's masterpiece is highly praised by history, but I also have some opinions. I always feel a little tired when reading this book. It is different from other novels, so I have to read it very carefully, or read a few chapters, and you will find that the story inside has changed. I am struggling with this, because I have two opinions at the same time.
I felt a bit of a running account from the beginning. A person will write a short story, much like a collection of short stories, not a novel. When this person's story is finished, find an excuse, such as meeting an old friend by boat and meeting a new friend at home, and then that person will completely evaporate from the next story as if it had never happened. But the connection between these people will be used in the next story or the next story, which will make people unable to understand. But this book, which consists of so many short stories, shows that the author's life experience is very rich and the information presented to the public is also very complete.
The story of Wang Mian is told at the beginning of the novel, and it is of great significance for the author to start there. By reading the later Scholars and comparing it with Wang Mian's life, the author's irony will be shown. Wang Mian suffered all his life and studied hard, which made him knowledgeable, but he never entered the official career. This is in sharp contrast with the views of scholars such as Yan Jiansheng and Jin Fan. Although I study hard at some nights, most of them are prepared by street hooligans, that is, changing clothes and becoming a scholar, but I always write some tricks. The author didn't write too much about the political struggle between literati to show their intrigue, but explained their clown image through some trivial things or some funny things. Satire at school is very obvious.
After reading this book, I can only say that I have learned one thing, that is, writing from a different angle. Everything is organic cotton. If I stand from one angle, I will never feel like a peak across the ridge.
