What is Li Shunchen's position in Korean history?

The Korean costume war movie "The Battle of Liang Ming" released on 20 14 really ignited the enthusiasm of Korean folk history. Li Shunchen, played by South Korean powerful actor Cui Minzhi, is even more impressive in naval battles. Why did Li Shunchen become a national hero in the eyes of Koreans?

A generalist from a civilian background

General Li Shunchen, whose real name is Ruhai, was born in Gancheon Cave (now the fifth street of Branch Road B), Seoul, North Korea, on March 8th of 1545 (Lunar New Year). Li Shunchen grew up in an ordinary village, and his father was an ordinary scholar. Since he was a child, he expected Li Shunchen to take the road of studying and being an official in China. Although Li Shunchen obeyed his father's instructions when he was young, he never forgot his dream of military service.

At the age of 22, Li Shunchen began to formally study martial arts. He was proficient in horse riding, archery and gun dancing. In addition, he also studied China's Art of War, Woods' Art of War and Sima Fa, which made Li Shunchen not only brave but also handsome. 1576, 32-year-old Li Shunchen became the authority of Hamgyong Road (a fortress guard in the northeast of Korea bordering on the Ming Dynasty, Jiupin) through the triennial military exercise in North Korea. It's really common to be a military attache of this grade at this age, which is quite different from the military talents who led troops on the sublime side in the early 1920s in China history.

Later, Li Shunchen was transferred back to the central government, and he performed the duties of a minister in a training institute (similar to the Ministry of War). He resolutely resisted the promotion of his private Cao Lang Zheng and Xu Yi by his cronies. Li Shunchen's daily life is extremely frugal, and he has nothing but clothes and bedding. He even returned public grain when he went home to visit relatives. This honesty, frugality and integrity make Li Shunchen's image highly sought after by Korean people.

It was not until 159 1 that the 47-year-old Li was promoted by the King of the Li Dynasty to be the ambassador of the Jeollado (southwest of the Korean Peninsula) Navy. Li Shunchen, a late bloomer, finally became commander-in-chief of the water army. However, fate always puts him on the stage at the most coincidental time. The following year, Taige Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who unified Japan, devoted all the national strength to Ma Haixia. Konishi Yukinaga, Masayoshi Kato, Masayoshi Kuroda and other famous Japanese Warring States "heroes" led/Kloc-0.58 million troops, 40,000 naval forces and more than 700 warships landed in Busan, and a national war began.

Less than two months after the Japanese invaders landed in Busan, they occupied all the Korean land except the north of Pyongyang in Pingan Province and some coastal areas of Jeolla-do. The royal family of North Korea lingered on the road of peace, constantly asking for help from the sovereign state of the Ming Dynasty, and the only thing left was Li Shunchen of Jeolla Road. At this extremely dangerous moment, he stepped forward and led his improved turtle boat to face the Japanese navy. Li Shunchen first won the first victory in Yupu, Yoche Island, and then sank 59 Japanese warships in Idle Mountain Island, annihilating more than 4,000 enemy troops, and achieved the famous "Idle Mountain Road Victory" in the history of world naval battles. After this war, Li Shunchen became our special envoys Jeolla, Kyung Sang and Chungcheong, and became the commander-in-chief of the South Korean navy.

However, cattle people can always start all over again at the most sad time. After turning over, Li Shunchen took over only 12 warships and 100 soldiers, and he faced hundreds of enemies. Taking advantage of his familiarity with Liang Ming port, he introduced Japanese warships into the Strait, causing the enemy to panic. In the end, it sank more than 30 enemy ships and wiped out more than 4,000 people, creating a miracle in the history of naval warfare.
