How old is the legend of Cao Xian?

The legend about Cao Xian has a history of more than 2300 years.

There are legends and records in many ancient books, such as Shan Hai Jing, Legend of the White Snake, Dream of Red Mansions and so on. For example, in The Classic of Mountains and Seas, the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon and the goddess Houyi were devastated, which made the tribe go out to sea to look for fairy grass, so that people died and could not find grass. Later, Houyi became a "fairy grass" and calmed the resentment of the world with his own dedication. The fairy grass here is the ingredient of grass.

Growth habit

I like warm and humid climate. When the temperature reaches above 20℃, it grows vigorously. When the daily average temperature is below 15℃, the growth is slow. When the temperature is lower than 10℃, the growth is difficult. When the temperature is lower than 0℃, the aboveground part dies and overwinters with perennial roots. Avoid drought and water accumulation. In the process of growth and development, abundant rain often leads to high yield, but if it is soaked in stagnant water for more than 2 days, it will cause root rot.

It is shade-tolerant and grows well in the light environment with sunshine time less than 8 hours. The requirements for soil conditions are not strict, but it is best to choose deep, fertile, loose and moist sandy loam rich in humus. Plants growing in arid and barren soil are short and slow.
