What symbol does DBH use?
DBH, also known as trunk diameter, is the diameter at the height of the trunk from the ground, and is only used for measuring trees.
The trunk off the ground is equivalent to the breast height diameter of an average adult. The specific height of breast height is uniformly stipulated within a country. In China and most countries, the breast height is set at1.3m above the ground.
DBH should be measured with a tree DBH ruler, generally pulling from left to right and surrounding the trunk. If the trees are inclined, they must surround the DBH ruler according to the natural inclination angle. If the cross section is abnormal, measure the average of the maximum and minimum values.
Extended data
The seedlings measured in DBH must be independent, and most of them are arbor species, including Huaqiao, Da Qiao and Er Qiao. For example, there are many common species, such as Osmanthus fragrans, Lagerstroemia indica, Cinnamomum camphora, Pu Shu, Magnolia grandiflora, Jacaranda jacaranda, Platanus orientalis and so on. However, these species must meet a requirement that their branching point must be higher than 130cm before DBH can be carried out.
Every tree grows a little differently. The DBH position of most single-pole trees cultivated with fixed poles is larger than that measured by meter diameter. The result of one-time measurement of the same tree is DBH >: meter diameter > ground diameter, but there are a few varieties that are not. For example, Lagerstroemia indica has a DBH of 7 cm, which is larger than the DBH, and the upper part is smaller than the lower part, but the diameter exceeding 7 cm is reversed, and the DBH is a little larger than the measured diameter.
Da Qiao tree species, such as Pistacia chinensis, Pu Shu and Acer truncatum, are very suitable for DBH measurement.
