Who are the Four Saints of the Arctic?

The Four Saints of the Arctic belong to the clergy in Taoist cultural beliefs. They are: Grand Marshal Tian Peng, Assistant Commander God Bless, Marshal Yi Sheng, and True King God Bless. The Four Saints of the Arctic are the subordinates of the Northern Emperor, also known as the true king of the Four Saints of the Arctic. The northern emperor can refer to the Arctic emperor in China, or Yin Fengdu Emperor in the north. These two statues of Fengdu Emperor in the North Yin are the embodiment of the Arctic emperor Wei Zihe and the nether world, and they are the supreme leaders of Du Feng's underworld.

Shen Xiao School in Song Dynasty classified the Four Saints and Buller as one of the important Taoist gods. After the Song Dynasty, the black and evil generals were replaced or merged into one by Yi Sheng Baode, and the position of the Arctic Emperor Star was stable, thanks to the guards of the four marshals. Therefore, the four marshals are also called the great gods to protect the sky, and often serve as guardians of the town halls in the temples of the Taoist God Jade Emperor or Wei Zi. In the Ming Dynasty, they believed in Zhenwu Emperor, whose status was equivalent to that of Wei Zi, one of the four emperors. By the Ming Dynasty, the belief of Zhenwu the Great had far surpassed that of the Four Saints of the Arctic.
