The fundamental and only reason why Qin Shihuang was created was that his family (the official position of Qin State) obtained the surname Zhao. This has nothing to do with his birth in Zhao, let alone his mother.

The founding monarch of Qin was Fei Zi, who was the nephew of Zhao Fu, the ancestor of Zhao. Because of historical reasons, the concubine's own family, because the ancestor's father is old, has gone to his cousin Zhao Fu to make a living, so she recognizes Zhao Fu as her ancestor and takes Zhao as her surname. The concubine later established the state of Qin, and this surname has been handed down. Therefore, the official position of the whole State of Qin has always taken Zhao as the surname, and Qin Shihuang was naturally called "Zhao Zheng".

The ancients were named after surnames, but there was no such thing as "taking the place of birth as the surname". This inexplicable way of naming surnames is just a fabrication by some amateurs. And "taking the place of residence as the surname" is generally based on the city name rather than the country name. The Zhao family once had a family named Handan. Even if Qin Shihuang does not return to China and has been living in Handan, he can only become another "Handan family" instead of Zhao. As for Qin Shihuang's mother, in the history of her life, she only said that she was "Zhao's daughter" (the daughter of a large family in Zhao), and did not say that her surname was Zhao. And even though her surname was Zhao, no one took her mother's surname during the Warring States Period. The people who invented these ideas probably watched too much drama and forced their family affairs into Qin Shihuang's home, but they didn't know that there was a gap of more than 2,000 years!

Some people strongly advocate that Qin Shihuang's surname is Zhao because he was born in Zhao or took his mother's surname. In fact, they want Qin Shihuang's surname Zhao to be an isolated case. The fundamental purpose is to deny the historical fact that the official surname of Qin is Zhao as a whole, so that their view that "the monarch of Qin is surnamed Qin" can be implemented. This is a common technique used by some people who support Qin Chongqin. People who are new to the discipline of Qin surname need to know this harsh academic environment in advance to avoid being led into misunderstanding and wasting time and energy.
