Where is the birthplace of Emperor Yan?

Before 2002, many places were vying for the title of "hometown of Yan Di", including Baoji in Shaanxi, Gaoping in Shanxi and Huitong in Hunan.

For many years, whenever Yandi's birthday is approaching, villagers near Lishan will spontaneously come here to worship.

This is evidenced by historical records. "Book of Rites" said: "Li Shan's home, Yan Di also; It began in Lushan, so it is called Lushan. " The Northern Wei Dynasty's Notes on Water Classics recorded: "There are heavy mountains in the south of the water, that is, Lieshan (with Lishan, reporter's note). There is a cave at the foot of the mountain. According to legend, the cloud is the birthplace of Shennong, so "Li" is called "Li". More than 500 years ago, the records of Suizhou in the Ming Dynasty specially marked this Shennong Cave.

According to statistics, over 2000 years since the Spring and Autumn Period, there are 140 books that record that Yan Di Shennong was born in Lishan.

The controversy subsided in 2002. At that time, the Chinese Yanhuang Culture Research Association confirmed in Yanhuang Canon that Suizhou is the hometown of Shennong in Yan Di, Yanling in Hunan is the location of Yan Di's mausoleum, Baoji in Shaanxi has Yan Di Temple, and Gaoping in Shaanxi has the remains of Shennong in Yan Di.

In this regard, the explanation given by most historians is that Yan Di was a primitive tribe about 6,000 years ago, and it flourished for more than 500 years. Emperor Yan Shennong was born in Suizhou, and later tribal leaders have been to Xiangyang Shennong Valley, Yichang Shennongjia and Shennongxi, and also migrated to Baoji and Gaoping. Later, the two tribes of Yanhuang formed an alliance to unify the whole country, and later generations called themselves descendants of Yanhuang. Yan Di's family left many footprints in Dongting Lake, including Yandiling in Zhuzhou, Hunan.
