Is there a Taoist temple in Tianjin?
Tianzunge, a cultural relic protection unit in Tianjin. Located in Fengtai Town, Ninghe County, northeast of Tianjin. Built in the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in the Xianfeng period, it is a Taoist temple dedicated to the Buddha of Yuan Dynasty. Tianzun Pavilion is 17.4 meters high, majestic and straight, with a wooden pavilion resting on three eaves. The lower floor is Tianzun Pavilion, the middle floor is Empress Dowager Hall, the upper floor is Weizi Hall, and Jiuji rests on the top of the mountain. 1976 during the Tangshan earthquake, all the nearby buildings collapsed, but Tianzun Pavilion stood tall and was the only ancient high-rise building in the epicenter area.
Jade Emperor Pavilion, a cultural relic protection unit in Tianjin. Located in Yuhuangge Street, Nankai District, Tianjin. It was built in the second year of Xuande in Ming Dynasty (1427) and rebuilt in Wanli. The original building of Yuhuang Pavilion, including archway, mountain gate, bell and drum tower, annex hall, hexagonal pavilion, main hall and Qingxu pavilion, is the largest Taoist temple in Tianjin. Qingxu Pavilion, the main building in the view, is the oldest wooden high-rise building in the urban area. There is a bronze statue of the Jade Emperor upstairs and a cloister around it, which gives you a panoramic view.
Tianhou Palace, a cultural relic protection unit in Tianjin. Located on the west bank of Sanchahekou at the intersection of Tianjin North-South Canal and Haihe River. Commonly known as "Niang Palace". Together with Mazu Tempel in Meizhou, Fujian, Putian in Fujian and Chaotian Palace in Beigang, Taiwan Province, it is called the three Mazu Tempel in China. At first, it was a place where boatmen offered sacrifices to Tian Fei, the sea god, and held performances and parties for entertainment. It was built in the third year of Taiding (1326) and rebuilt in the first year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1403), and has been expanded and repaired many times since then. There are theaters, banners, mountain gates, archways, bell and drum towers, forecourt, main hall and back hall, which are the earliest existing ancient buildings in the urban area. 1985 was greatly revised to create a folk museum to show the historical development and folk customs of Tianjin. The vicinity of Tianhou Palace is also a bustling place for early commercial and folk activities in Tianjin. Now it has built an "ancient cultural street" with Chinese flavor, Tianjin flavor, classical flavor and cultural flavor, which is simple, elegant and lively. ?
Although Tianjin has scattered ancestors since ancient times, as a city, it is closely related to water transportation. Due to the development of grain transportation, the first two settlements in Tianjin, zhi gu and Sanchahekou, have developed one after another. From the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty to the 19th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1282), the grain in the south started from Liujiagang in the south of the Yangtze River, entered the Haihe River by sea to Dagukou, stopped at Zhigu on the east bank of the Haihe River, and then was transported to Dadu by the North Canal. Less than ten years after the opening of maritime traffic, the Yuan government set up a traffic hall and Linqing Wan Hu Mansion in zhi gu, and built the "Tian Fei Lingci Palace" (later changed to "Tianhou Palace", that is, the East Palace) in Yanyou to meet the needs of boatmen for offering sacrifices in maritime traffic. Then another Tian Fei Temple (West Temple) was built near Sanchahekou.
At the beginning of the construction, the two Tianhou Temples were dedicated to offering sacrifices to Maureen, the goddess of Fujian and Guangdong, who was believed by the boatmen. Maureen is from Meizhou Island, Putian County, Fujian Province. After her death, she was sealed many times in the Song Dynasty, and was named Lady Hui Ling and Tian Fei successively, and was also named Queen of Heaven in the Qing Dynasty. Tianjin people call Tianhou Palace Niangniang Palace, so these two temples are also commonly known as "Niangniang Palace". At first, they were hosted by monks, and there were exchange activities in the Yuan Dynasty (see Su's zhi gu Palace Monument). How they became Taoist priests is still an unsolved mystery. According to books such as Tianjinwei Wei Zhi, in the tenth year of Ming Dynasty (1445), "Taoist Shao Zhenzu was paid by the Ministry of Rites", which shows that Taoist was in charge at that time. However, these two temples are not Taoist temples in the strict sense, which is related to the attitude of Tianjin residents towards religion. They are "three treasures in everything" and don't care about Buddhism, Taoism and folk religion. Tathagata, Guanyin, Jade Emperor, Empress Dowager, God of Wealth, King of Medicine, Guandi, Jigong, Grandma, and Old Lady Bai ... are all regarded as immortals, all seeking help. After the day, it spread to Tianjin and entered the ranks of these immortals. With the passage of time, the gods enshrined in the two temples became complicated to meet this requirement. Because Tian Fei is a woman, she became the patron saint of young women and children, and gave birth to various empresses, thus forming a unique folk phenomenon in Tianjin-tying dolls, which also became the most devastated and tortured prostitute worship object in the old society. It also covers the drought and flood in agriculture, the prosperity of businessmen, the relief of victims and the blessings of the people. Over the years, the temple fair to worship the Queen of Heaven has become a folk activity integrating faith, entertainment and business, which has many connections with the people of Tianjin and has become an indispensable part of citizens' lives.
