Is Lagerstroemia indica a shrub or a tree?

Lagerstroemia indica (scientific name: Lagerstroemia indica), also known as itch flower, prurigo, purple flower, purple orchid, mosquito flower, Myrica rubra, zinnia and skinless tree, is a deciduous shrub or small tree, belonging to Litchi family.

Small trees refer to trees with obvious trunk, branches above DBH and tree height above 5 meters. The common crape myrtle is a light green seedling, which is shrub-like.
