The full name of Emperor Wei Zi.

The Great Emperor Wei Zi, known as the "Great Emperor Wei Zi Bei in Midheaven", occupies an important position in the folk beliefs of the Han nationality, and belongs to one of the four Taoist emperors, ranking below the Jade Emperor. It is the four auxiliary gods in the Taoist immortal pedigree, not the "emperor" in Chinese historical dynasties.

In the Taoist immortal pedigree, the highest god is "Sanqing". There are four auxiliary gods in Sanqing Three Gods, namely, the Northern Pole Emperor of Zhongtian Weizi, the Immortal Emperor of Antarctica, the Emperor of Gouchen Shanggong and the Emperor of Houtu Huangdi. Emperor Wei Zi's duty is to assist the Jade Emperor, in charge of the longitude and latitude, the sun, the moon and the stars, and the four seasons. He is the Lord of Vientiane and the head of all the stars. Emperor Wei Zi, referred to as "Purple Palace" and "Purple Star" for short, is located in the center of the sky. In ancient times, the Han people worshipped Wei Zi very much.
