What kind of tree is rosewood?

Red sandalwood is a Pterocarya of Leguminosae, also known as Qinglong wood, Huangbai wood, Rose wood, Hualv wood and Feather Ye Tan.

Mahogany is produced in China, Taiwan Province, Guangdong and Yunnan (South). Born in sparse forests on hillsides, or cultivated in gardens. India, Philippines, Indonesia and Myanmar are also distributed. Wood is hard and dense with red heartwood, which is an excellent material for architecture, musical instruments and furniture.
