China's various numerology philosophies have their own advantages and disadvantages, and none of them can meet the needs of human beings, resulting in numerous numerology theories with their own characteristics. For example, the theory of "divination" focuses on touching people and communicating with them. The theory of "phase" emphasizes the status quo, showing good luck and regret. The theory of "destiny" forms a fixed chart according to the time of birth, the induction of weather, the reaction of regions and the interaction between people, so as to infer the rise and fall of human life. In these three categories, various numerology judgments can be subdivided. When we have a cursory look at various methods of inferring fate, we feel that various numerology inferences seem to have their own characteristics and are not related to each other; However, when we study them further, we will find that they have one thing in common, that is, the theory and application of "five elements restraint" Every method of inferring numerology adopts this theory, but the proportion is different, which also reflects the characteristics of "seeking common ground while reserving differences" in the Book of Changes.

In fact, the "five elements system" contains two major phenomena, one is the principle of reciprocity and the other is the principle of mutual resistance.

One: the principle of reciprocity → in short, it is the principle of father passing on children. The ancients also used various conditions of mother and child to explain the principle of reciprocity. The order of their mutual development is as follows: wood fire, fire earth, earth gold, golden water, aquatic wood, no beginning and no end, and the cycle is repeated.

Under the condition of standard symbiotic cycle, it can be subdivided into three phenomena:

(1) Strong venting → Parents in the golden age, unconditionally raising children, caring for children, and paying for children, did not expect children to have feedback. In other words, when we are strong, it is natural to pay for our children. As mentioned in Li Yuan Fu, only by gaining water from strong gold can we break its front. Strong water gains wood, which will release potential. Strong wood gets fire, making it stubborn. A strong fire can only stop its flame if it gets soil. Strong soil gets gold, and it can only be harmed.

In today's society, there is not one child or only two children in each family, so every child can easily become the darling of parents. Therefore, parents are unwilling to let their children suffer hardships in the process of their growth, resulting in excessive protection for their children, and children have no chance to learn how to live independently. Children are born like flowers in a greenhouse and cannot stand setbacks and blows. Li Yuanfu also mentioned that gold comes from the earth, and more land is buried with gold. Soil depends on fire, and more fire can't burn. Fire depends on wood, and wood is full of fire. Wood depends on water, and water makes wood drift. Water is Lai Jinsheng, but gold is much more turbid.

(3) Every mother will appear weak just after giving birth to a child, and the degree of weakness of each mother is different. There are many factors that cause this different phenomenon, such as the weight of newborn babies. In the past, caesarean section was not very developed in medicine, so most of the delivery processes were natural, so the baby's weight would be related to the maternal physical condition. For example, in Fu, gold can produce water, and water is heavy. Water can make wood, and wood can shrink when filled with water. Wood can make a fire, and fire burns more wood. Fire can produce soil, and the soil is full of fire. Soil can produce gold, and more gold changes with soil.

Two: the principle of mutual restraint → its meaning is to be restrained and hindered. Focusing on anyone or anything is bound to be in a state of mutual induction, mutual influence and mutual checks and balances, which in turn forms a peaceful state. At the end of the Warring States Period, Zou Yan put forward the theory that the five elements are superior to each other in his Theory of Five Virtues to illustrate the social and historical development process. In order to prove the correctness of the theory of "Five Virtues", Zou Yan put forward the explanation of "Yu Tu, Natsume, Yin Jin and Zhou Huo" in the order of winning the five elements. The theory of five elements winning, that is, the theories we are familiar with at present, all have contradictory phenomena, such as Mutuke, Tukeshui, Shuihoke, Huojinke and Jin Kemu's circulation. There are three kinds of phenomena that contain each other:

(a) The weaker the gram, the stronger the gram → the destructive gram, which is the worst phenomenon among all grams. In the history of China, at the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Manchu government was weak, and all countries in the world were in a period of strong national strength, constantly encroaching on and expanding their territory. China, whose national strength is in a weak period, has naturally become a victim of invasion by foreign powers, and this phenomenon of mutual resistance makes the weak stronger. For example, in Li Yuanfu, when the price of gold falls in case of fire, it must be sold. When a fire meets water, it must be put out. When the water is weak, it will clog. Soil rot will sink when it meets wood. When wood is weak and meets gold, it must be cut.

2) Anti-gram means that the weak take the initiative to gram the strong, and they are injured because they can't move. This phenomenon is called anti-gram. This phenomenon warns us that when we want to check and balance others, we must first know how big our own strength is, and at the same time we need to find out the strength of others before we can make judgments and decide on checks and balances. This is precisely "know yourself and know yourself, and fight every battle." For example, Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor triggered the Second World War and finally embarked on the road of failure and surrender. "Li Yuan Fu" also explains this phenomenon: gold can beat wood, wood is strong and gold is scarce. Wood can break soil, but the soil is heavy. Soil can replace water, and water will flow more than soil. Water can overcome fire, and fire can make water and heat burn. Fire can kill gold, but more gold can put out fire.

(3) Complementarity → This is the most perfect combination of mutual respect, that is, the combination of mutual influence and mutual achievement. This phenomenon is so great that the two countries are in a hostile state, competing with each other in weapons research and development or quantity expansion, such as the United States and Russia after World War II. As small as sports competitions, for example, Iron Man Yang of China and Johnson of the United States compete with each other, encourage each other and achieve each other in ten sports. "Li Yuan Fu" also mentioned: Wang Jin had a fire first, then a weapon. Only when the fire is flourishing and the water is obtained can mutual benefit be achieved. A rising tide lifts all boats, and the earth becomes a pool. The soil is prosperous and sparse. Only when the wood is flourishing can it become a pillar.

In Wei Zimen's books, the theory of five elements restraint is rarely discussed, and even in Wei Zimen's Complete Book, it is only briefly mentioned without a special chapter. Therefore, many people who study Wei Zimen pay less attention to the theory of restraint of the five elements and will focus on the study of stars. In fact, the application of the five elements restraint theory lies in four aspects: first, the concept of "three talents" is first mentioned and then explained, and "moon order" → represents heaven; "Star" → representative; "Gongke" → representative place.

(1) restraint of the five elements of the star and the palace branch → this is the interactive relationship between man and the earth. In addition to the interaction between man and land, we should consider the interaction of the Big Dipper in the south or the north, and the journey of the Big Dipper in the south and out in the north. It is also necessary to consider whether the interaction of the star itself in the palace branch supports or inhibits, so as to judge whether the state of the star is strengthened or weakened. Like humans living on the earth or humans living on other planets, which one can get more favorable living space? For example, which is more suitable for human activities in a bustling metropolis, in a jungle with high mountains, or in the north and south poles of ice and snow? This is the influence of the restraint of the five elements of the stars (people) and the palace branch (geographical environment).

(2) restraint of the five elements in the order of the stars and the moon → Because the earth rotates around the sun in the process of rotation, other planets interact with the earth in different time and space, resulting in various corresponding relationships. This phenomenon inspired the sages to observe the celestial phenomena, and made a concrete reference to the different forces of various planets in different seasons, which were expressed by the strength of five forces: prosperity, phase, death, imprisonment and rest. Just as we are feeling the light and heat of the sun, we will have different feelings in different seasons, thus forming our likes and dislikes for the sun.

(3) The star and the five elements of the star are restrained → The biggest feature of Wei Zi's bucket number is that according to the Book of Changes, "in the natural world, it takes shape in the ground and sees its changes." "Principle, like the interaction between the stars in the sky, is replicated in the social interaction of human groups. Therefore, this theory of restraint of the five elements in the stars, that is, discussion, ranges from interaction between people to expression of personal sympathy. For example, Ziweixing and Hungry Wolf Star settled in the mausoleum. According to their different States, we can discuss that this person's performance in Ziwei Star is more obvious, or focus on the display of Hungry Wolf Star. There are three different phenomena. (4) Five-element Bureau and Five-element Restraint → Five-element Bureau is a "body", which is innate, internal and hidden. Stars are "used", acquired, external and revealing. So is it consistent to discuss a person's internal life potential and external display ability? If there is conflict, individuals will feel very tired in the process of life, and their efforts will not be directly proportional to their income. They even feel that the stage where their talents are not played will affect their outlook on life, and their pessimistic thinking will gradually grow, and they will never be able to create a brilliant life.

The Influence of Five Elements Restraint

The influence of "Five Elements Restraint Theory" on us is silent and far-reaching. Since the Han Dynasty, Confucianism has been admired exclusively, believing that mathematicians applied the principle of "five elements of mutual restraint", so this principle was despised. However, we can also learn about the application of "five elements generating grams" from history. From the Qin Dynasty to the Song Dynasty, when every founding monarch overthrew the former dynasty, he would first decide good or ill luck, reward the twelfth lunar month and social day, and then go to La Worship to show his destiny to win the country and show his orthodoxy. This also shows that the "Five Elements Restraint Theory" plays both positive and negative roles in the same historical drama under the interaction of traditional science and traditional mysticism, permeating, repelling and achieving each other, and influencing our humanity.
