Looking for a Taoist priest
Today, Taoism is divided into two major factions: Orthodox and Quanzhen.
Orthodox can get married and have children, but Quanzhen can't.
Joining Taoism, one is to become a formal Taoist priest, and the other is to become a Taoist layman.
There are two ways to become a formal Taoist, one is to become a full-fledged Taoist, and the other is to become an orthodox Taoist. Both of them have to go through the formalities of learning from the teacher, but the former must go to the Taoist temple and become a monk, while the latter does not need to become a monk.
To become a Taoist layman, you only need to apply for a conversion certificate at the Taoist temple.
The general Taoist temple accepts new monks, and also requires monks to have ID cards and certificates issued by the local police station to prove that monks have an innocent history and no criminal record.
