What is the use of polished Buddhist articles?

Opening the light and blessing are two different concepts.

Opening ceremony: The opening ceremony invites the Buddha to stay in a statue or building. After the opening, the objects can't be moved (the gods and buddhas dare not move after staying, for fear of disrespect to the gods and buddhas), so they can only open the light for animals such as idols and buildings.

Blessing: Blessing is to infuse an item with one's own magical power or the power of the upper Buddhist scriptures, so that the item has certain special abilities. Often used on statues, feng shui instruments or wearable mascots; It is through the ceremony of the religious affairs bureau that I sincerely invite the divine light to bless me and the gods to bless me.

Pray for blessing, ward off evil spirits, be healthy sometimes, be lucky all the year round, avoid three disasters, die of lodging, stay away from illness, hide qi, get help from nobles, be lucky when you are in trouble, have all your wishes come true, and have all the best.

Representational significance

Any ceremony in Buddhism has certain expressive significance, and opening the light is no exception. Buddhism believes that all living beings are polluted by ignorance and dirt from the beginning, so we need to develop our inner wisdom. Zen master Shen Xiu in the Tang Dynasty said: "Being a bodhi tree is like a mirror, so you should always wipe it clean to prevent dust."

Therefore, during the opening ceremony, the dharma practitioner picked up a towel to dust off the Buddha, which means to dust off the hearts of all beings. Looking in the mirror means that the dirt is clear, the heart is clear, and the true face of the law is truly seen; Pointing Buddha's eyes with cinnabar pen is because eyes represent wisdom, so opening Buddha's eyes and developing the inner wisdom of all beings.

If sentient beings have no wisdom, they will make arbitrary distinctions between various laws, just like seeing empty flowers with sick eyes, but still insisting on truth. Therefore, we should get rid of eye diseases and explore the original wisdom.
