How do drug police choose undercover?

In the face of anti-drug cases, public security organs will select specific personnel or conduct cosmetic investigations. According to Article 262 of the Procedures for Handling Criminal Cases by Public Security Organs, in order to find out the case, when necessary, the investigator or other personnel designated by the public security organ may conduct the investigation by hiding their identity upon the decision of the person in charge of the public security organ at or above the county level.

When carrying out hidden identity investigation, it is not allowed to induce others to commit crimes or to induce others to commit crimes by methods that may endanger public security and cause serious personal danger.

Article 263 For criminal activities of paying drugs, property and other contraband, in order to find out the criminals and the facts of the crime, controlled delivery may be implemented upon the decision of the person in charge of the public security organ at or above the county level according to the needs of investigation.

Article 264 The materials that the public security organ conducts an identity concealment investigation and delivers to the supervision and collection in accordance with the provisions of this section may be used as evidence in criminal proceedings.

If the materials collected in the investigation and control of hidden identity are used as evidence, which may endanger the personal safety of the hidden identity personnel, or may have other serious consequences, protective measures such as not exposing the identity of the relevant personnel shall be taken.
