The interpretation of the eldest son inheritance system in Chunqiu Zuozhuan is slightly different: "If a monarch dies, he will be established with a younger brother, and if he has no children, he will be long. Choosing his talents every year is of universal significance." Historian Chang Simian supported the theory of "determining the heir by divination" according to specific historical facts, and thought that "those who established the monarch in ancient times always relied on morality every year, and morality predicted everything".

So the general meaning is that if a monarch is established, his age almost depends on whose quality is good, and his character is almost determined by divination.
