The Historical Origin of Taizu Temple in Haitou Town, Danzhou

The legend of "Zhong Taizu" in Taizu Temple in Haitou Town, Danzhou City is that the general of Ming Dynasty was killed.

Historical legends:

During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, Marshal Zhong, the magistrate of Haifeng, was ordered by the emperor to go south. He was martyred by a strong wind because he was chasing pirates. A few days later, on the second day of the second lunar month, Marshal Zhong (said to be the "Nine-Day Holy Emperor") appeared in Guanya Mountain (also known as the "Baishadu" sand dune) in Haitou Town-one of Marshal's boots became a grave.

Since then, the common people have changed the worship of the land god to the worship of loyal Taizu, and built the "Taizu Temple", and designated February 2nd as Taizu's birthday. Since then, the population and business in Haitou area have flourished.

Folk activities:

Before liberation, on this day, people worshipped their ancestors and drew lots for divination. After liberation, it became a folk entertainment festival. On this day every year, dozens of people around (including people from Baisha and Changjiang counties) will go to Haitou Town to watch dragon and lion dances, stage fights, duet and flirting. Fireworks are set off at night.

According to the records of Dan County in the Republic of China, Taizu Temple was actually built in the fourth year of the Republic of China (19 15), which was a local belief brought by immigrants from Haifeng County, Guangdong Province.
