The origin of Sichuan name

Origin:

During the Northern Song Dynasty, Xia Chuan Road, located in the present Sichuan Basin, was divided into Yizhou Road, Zizhou Road, Lizhou Road and Kuizhou Road, collectively known as "Xia Chuan No.4 Road" or "Sichuan Road". In the meantime, there were also official posts such as Sichuan Zhi Zhi Ambassador and Sichuan Fu Xuan Ambassador, which were later called "Sichuan", hence the name Sichuan.

From the Yuan Dynasty to the 23rd year of Yuan Dynasty, Si Xia Road in Sichuan merged, and "Sichuan and other provinces were established as Zhongshu Province", referred to as "Sichuan Province", hence the name "Sichuan Province".

During the period of 1997, Chongqing, the former city under separate state planning in Sichuan Province, and Fuling, Wanxian and Qianjiang, the prefecture-level cities, separated from Sichuan Province to form Chongqing municipality directly under the central government. At this point, Sichuan and Chongqing were divided and ruled, forming the administrative region of Sichuan Province today.
