Sand table and taboo tablet pavilion of Song Dynasty palace with dark green roof

Speaking of the palaces of ancient imperial palaces, will the word "resplendent" flash in your mind?

The roof of Longting Park in Kaifeng is golden glazed tile, while the simulated sand table of the Northern Song Dynasty palace group and the simulated sand table of the Northern Song Dynasty capital Beijing are dark green.

I was curious and asked the tour guide why.

The tour guide wearing blue-green Hanfu told me that Long Ting is a building modeled after the Forbidden City in Beijing in the Qing Dynasty, so it has a golden roof.

The sand table simulated the architecture of the Song Dynasty, and Zhao Kuangyin, the founding emperor of the Northern Song Dynasty, worshipped Taoism very much. The aim of Taoism is the harmonious unity between man and nature, so the idea of "Taoism is natural" was followed in the construction of palaces in the Northern Song Dynasty, and the dark green roof became a typical feature of architecture in the Song Dynasty.

Even the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival painted by Zhang Zeduan in the Northern Song Dynasty is a vibrant green tone.

In Long Ting Park, you can also see a tablet pavilion, in which stands a Taoist tablet of "Five Mountains in True Shape", which was carved in the fifth year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty 1800, with a history of more than 200 years. The text was written by Henan Buzheng, and the front of the monument was engraved with the green "five mountains in true shape".

In the eyes of Taoism, "the reality of the five mountains" symbolizes the five mountains in China and is also a symbol of Taoist exorcism. Many elderly Taoist believers in the scenic area are kneeling before this monument, praying for themselves and their families for peace, happiness and health, and taking the meaning of "standing on the top of the five mountains, avoiding evil spirits and receiving blessings".

Look carefully, have you found that the word "monument" on this pavilion is missing?

The tour guide explained that the word "monument" is the word "stone" of stone plus a despicable word "humble", which is taboo and unlucky if it is missing.

There must be stories and legends about the word "tablet" in this pavilion, but I didn't find any evidence to support the tour guide's explanation, so I really don't know whether it is true or not.
