After the completion of Cixi's mausoleum, Cixi was not satisfied. The reason is that after the completion of the project, she and Ci 'an spent different money on her mausoleum, which she felt unfair. Theoretically speaking, Cixi's position is definitely much lower than that of Ci 'an, so the money spent on her tomb is nearly 402,000 less than that of Ci 'an. However, Qian Luling used 2.66 million taels of silver, Ci Xiling used 2.27 million taels of silver, and the two mausoleums used a total of 5 million taels of silver, which is a great sum in history.

Cixi felt that her mausoleum could not be contaminated with a trace of evil, and it could only be built by these naive and inexperienced children. Only by repairing the mausoleum can Empress Dowager Cixi be buried safely.

But the money for hiring children is different from that for hiring adult workers, and these children are not sensible and can't do manual work, so it is very troublesome and the time spent on construction projects has greatly increased.

Because the coffin of Empress Dowager Cixi is very heavy, it is said that it weighs a ton, and there was no other mode of transportation at that time, so it could only be carried manually. There are nearly 8,000 people carrying coffins alone, all mobilized from all over the country.

In the eyes of the world, she is just a woman without literary accomplishment. Just like people's cognition of women in ancient harem, it depends on physical conditions to please the emperor. In fact, Cixi also has some accomplishments in calligraphy.

So what is the calligraphy level of Cixi? The Forbidden City in Beijing has a copy of Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra written by Cixi in cinnabar. We know that Cixi believes in Buddhism, and the Buddhist quilt unearthed from her mausoleum is enough to show her belief in Buddhism. Therefore, the heart sutra of pineapple and jackfruit copied by Cixi in the Forbidden City must be authentic. You let others copy it, which is not enough to show your sincerity and merit, and you won't get a blessing! I can never do it myself. This is the original painting.

This original work was written in the 30th year of Guangxu, namely 1904. How do you feel when you see the calligraphy of Empress Dowager Cixi? Although the handwriting preserved so far is vague, it can be seen clearly, and the calligraphy is really good.

In her later years, Cixi did something praised by people at that time, that is, abolished the barbaric punishment left over from the Ming Dynasty. Since the Shang Dynasty, China people have made great efforts in transferring people to kill people, such as branding, beheading and dismembering, which not only destroyed the enemy physically, but also humiliated the enemy's body. By the Ming dynasty, this kind of punishment reached its peak, such as peeling, annual income and so on. After Cixi's death, she was notorious. Only this one thing was praised and no one questioned it!

Since the integration with the world, the rulers of the Qing Dynasty have also realized the gap and actively learned from the West in politics, ideology and science. At that time, the progressive ministers realized that China's barbaric punishment violated modern civilization, so they wrote to demand its abolition. Later, in order to get foreigners to agree to abolish consular jurisdiction, and also to show their benevolent policies, Cixi decreed that beheading was the capital punishment, abolishing cruel punishments such as beheading that year, and stopping branding, flogging and sitting together.
