The source of timid crosstalk

Tianjin TV's "Holding Tomorrow's Sun-1996 Spring Festival Gala" recorded the traditional joke "Afraid of fortune telling" performed by famous crosstalk actors Li Boxiang and Du Guozhi.

The performance absorbed the essence of Li and his disciples' performances, combined with their own characteristics, catered to the fast-paced requirements of today's young audience, and created and rehearsed this joke. The actor imitated realistically, and the audience applauded and laughed constantly. This applause and laughter is undoubtedly that the audience and actors stand together, which has dealt a powerful blow and lash to the superstition that has revived in recent years. The blind man's divination "calculation" is full of loopholes, self-contradictory and unable to justify itself, exposing this deceptive trick to the fullest. I don't know if the audience understands the theme of "fear of fortune telling", not only satirizing the blind fortune teller, but revealing the liar's behavior of pretending ignorance, playing tricks and "insatiable greed" through the performance of this fake fortune teller, which is quite practical.

Since "Fear of Fortune Telling" is a traditional program with strong thoughts and is deeply loved by the audience, why didn't it meet the TV audience today? The reason is the word "fear". There are many cross talks with the word "timid". We might as well collectively call them "timid cross talks". "Afraid of Crosstalk" had a glorious period in 1930s and 1940s, with more than 30 films, which had a wide range of themes and a hot theater effect, and was moved by the word "afraid". After the founding of the People's Republic of China, "timid cross talk" almost disappeared in theater performances and radio broadcasts, which was also caused by "fear".

One of the original meanings of "cut" is a derogatory term for the local accent by Beijingers in the old society, which is called "cut". The extended meaning of "timidity" is that insiders despise and belittle outsiders (including those in the city), which is called "timidity of goods" and "timidity of spoons". The meaning of "fear of cross talk" does not exceed its original meaning and extension.
