If you just burn incense in front of Buddha and Bodhisattva, make a wish, hang Buddha and Bodhisattva's pendants, worship Buddha and Bodhisattva's statues and portraits, and do nothing or do bad things all the time, in fact, Buddha and Bodhisattva will not play any role at the moment. He just planted a good root for you, planted a seed that became attached to the Buddha, and waited for you to "turn back from the boundless sea of suffering"!
