According to records, there were two temples in the Tang Dynasty, Ji 'an and Xiangshan. 1 186, two monasteries were unified, and Jin Zhangzong was named "Da 'ai 'an Temple". It was rebuilt in the Yuan Dynasty and renamed as "Kanluoji". Rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty, it was called "Eianji". During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, it was expanded on the original site, forming a unique pattern of Qian Jie, Zhongsi and Houyuan temples, and was awarded the "Great Eianji" as one of the 28 scenic spots in Jingyi Garden. Xiangshan Temple, built on the mountain, was once the highest of all temples in Xishan. Xiangshan Temple was burnt down by British and French allied forces and Eight-Nation Alliance in 1860 and 1900 respectively, leaving only the remains of Zhilehao, Tingfasong, Miluo Tree Monument and Shiping.
