Cai Chongda's Artest is a real person.

Artest, a 99-year-old fisherman named Cai Wuhao, is the protagonist of Cai Chongda's nonfiction prose collection Pi and Cai Chongda's novel Destiny. The prototype is Cai Chongda's mother's grandmother.

Destiny is Cai Chongda's first novel. Eight years ago, Skin, which sold more than 4 million copies, made the young writer Cai Chongda an extraordinary legend. Eight years later, in his novel Destiny, Cai Chongda asked Ron Artest, the hero of Skin, to recall her 99-year-old life experience.
