Why is Zhong You called the father of book history?

Zhong You was a famous calligrapher and Wei Xiang in the Three Kingdoms period. He was born in Yingchuan Changshe (now Changge, Henan), a noble family in the Eastern Han Dynasty. His ancestors were famous for their virtues. Legend has it that Zhong You was not very handsome and brilliant when he was a child. He once went to Luoyang with his uncle Yu Zhong. On the way, he met a physiognomist. Seeing Zhong You's appearance, the fortuneteller said to Yu Zhong, "The child looks rich, but he will be drowned. Please walk carefully. " As a result, he walked less than 5 kilometers. When crossing the bridge, Zhong You's horse suddenly panicked, and Zhong You was thrown into the water and almost drowned. Yu Zhong saw the fortune teller's words come true and believed Zhong had a bright future, so he redoubled his efforts to cultivate them. Zhong You lived up to high expectations and worked hard. Later, he not only became an official as a teacher, but also made outstanding achievements in calligraphy art.

Zhong You's calligraphy is the second generation of Cai Yong's calligraphy. Zhong You studied calligraphy very hard, and sometimes he was fascinated. It is said that Zhong You once found that Dan Wei had the secret of Cai Yong's calligraphy practice and asked Dan Wei to lend it to him. However, Dan Wei didn't give it to him because the book was too precious. Despite his hard work, Dan Wei refused to lend it to him. So Zhong You beat his chest, punched himself, was scarred, and made a scene for three days, so that he fainted and was dying. Cao Cao immediately ordered first aid, and Zhong You survived and gradually recovered. Despite this, Dan Wei still ignored it. Zhong You is very helpless and is often troubled by this matter. It was not until Dan Wei's death that Zhong You sent someone to dig his grave and retrieve his books. Since then, calligraphy has made rapid progress.

Zhong You's calligraphy style is mainly regular script, official script and running script, while Zhong You's original calligraphy has been lost in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Representative works include Five Tables, Six Posts and Three Monuments. "Five tables" refer to the declaration form, seasonal recommendation form, joint table (also called tolerance table), adjustment table and vitality table.

Zhong You created a new look from official script to regular script. He and Wang Xizhi of Jin Dynasty were also called "Zhong Wang", and their comments made great achievements in all previous dynasties. Zhong You had a great influence on the history of China's calligraphy, and was always regarded as the originator of China's calligraphy history. He was the first person to write regular script in the history of calligraphy and made important contributions to the development of Chinese characters. After Zhong You, many calligraphers competed to learn the clock body. For example, Wang Xizhi and his son have various clock styles. Zhang Xu, Huai Su, Yan Zhenqing and Huang Tingjian all absorbed the length of the clock body and the essence of the clock theory from all aspects in their calligraphy creation. In a word, Zhong You occupies a very important position in the history of China's calligraphy and plays an important role in the emergence, development and evolution of China's calligraphy.
