Brief introduction of the author of Shuo Wen Jie Zi Zhu

Duan Yucai (1735 ~ 18 15) was an exegetist and scholar in Qing dynasty. If the word is false, it is called Maotang. In his later years, he was called Yanbei layman, Changtang Lake layman and overseas Chinese Wu. One of the four great writers of Shuowen. A native of Jintan, Jiangsu Province, he used to be the magistrate of Yuping, Guizhou and Wushan, Sichuan. He returned from his illness and lived in Qiao Feng, Suzhou, studying behind closed doors. Zeng studied exegetical phonology under Dai Zhen. He is the author of Shuowen Jiezi Annotation, Phonetic Equivalence Table of Six Books, Different Writing Methods of China Ancient Literature, The Final Edition of Shi Mao's Old Instructions, Jingyun Lou Ji, etc. He has made outstanding contributions to phonology, philology, exegetics and collation in China.
