Is there spirituality in the 300-year-old Sapindus mukoraiensis?

Not necessarily. Everything is easy to find, commonly known as ghosts see sorrow, also known as wood bitter son, bitter son and so on. Originated in China, India and some areas south of the Yangtze River. Its leaves are golden in autumn, so it is also called Huang Jinshu, cash cow and lucky tree. Growing in Jiangnan, the growth period reaches ten months, and the seed coat is thick and hard, which is more suitable for making beads.

According to the Buddhist scriptures, when the Buddha became a monk, he wore bodhi beads that had no saplings. This is also the earliest record of Bodhi. Nowadays, the three Bodhi, such as Cheng Yan, King Kong and Xingyue, all come from the name of Sapindus Bodhi. What's more, modern people call all those who can wear beads bodhi, which is not an exaggeration from the original intention of chanting Buddha.

There are two kinds of Sapindus mukoraiensis: wild and cultivated. The artificially cultivated Sapindus mukoraiensis grows fast and bears many seeds, but it is not round and has thin skin, which is only suitable for greening trees. Wild Sapindus mukoraiensis grows slowly, is close to a perfect circle and has thick skin, so it is a good material for making beads.

The Book of Merits and Merits of Counting Beads says: Take Sapindus as a Buddha's bead, recite it once and bless it for a thousand times. No matter whether it is wild or cultivated seeds, the new seeds are black, and with the extension of time, they will gradually become burgundy, which is similar to the color of lobular rosewood.
