Ningdu Tea-picking Drama "Planting Wheat"

Ningdu tea-picking opera is a provincial intangible cultural heritage, which is listed as one of the 335 independent operas in China by the Ministry of Culture 1955. Judging from music, performance, language, plays and related customs, it is a unique drama style.

Ningdu Tea-picking Opera originated in Laicun and Qingtang areas in the south of Ningdu in the middle period of Qing Qianlong. According to the information left by the old artists, the original birthplace is a master named Lin, who likes to sing folk songs and minor tunes. Later, he developed to sing blessing words in the tune of folk songs, and accompanied the villagers with gongs during the New Year every year. Local experts call it the "spring gong stage". I didn't expect it to be an instant hit. Lin accepted two apprentices, made two tea lanterns, sang and danced, and gradually developed a performing figure and some simple footwork. Tea girl (male) and tea boy began to perform at the same time, which was very popular with the villagers. Experts call it "moving lanterns", while others call it "lantern show". On the basis of Xiao Dan (the girl selling tea) and Xiao Sheng (the boy selling tea), the gag clown business was added, which was called "Triangle Class". Later, it was added to a program performed by seven people, called "Half Class". This stage has gone through a quite long period. After liberation, with the government's attention, 1950 established the "Ningdu Local Drama Department". Both: the predecessor of "Ningdu Tea Picking Troupe". From the early 1950s to the Cultural Revolution, Ningdu tea-picking drama developed the fastest, and the Cultural Revolution Troupe was dissolved. The troupe resumed 1977, and the tea-picking drama entered its heyday.
