Brief introduction of Wang Ji Temple scenic spot in beilin district, xi, Shaanxi

Xi beilin district dongguan street artillery building. Wangji Temple was built in the first year of Shenlong in Li Xian, Tang Zhongzong (750), when Princess Taiping prayed for her mother Wu Zetian. She was named Wangji Temple, which means from the Book of Songs: "If you want to repay virtue, heaven can't understand it".

In the Tang Dynasty, this temple was quite large, grand and spectacular. After Tang Wuzong Li Zhuo ordered the world to destroy the Buddha statue, the scope of the temple was reduced. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, after several renovations, it became the famous buddhist nun in Dongcheng. Its architectural layout is rigorous and its style is similar to Guangren Temple.

There are two stone beasts in front of the temple, neither lions nor tigers. They were called unicorns in ancient times, and they were magnificent. The temple is divided into four entrances, including the mountain gate, the Wei Tuo Hall, the King Kong Hall, the Daxiong Hall and the reclining Buddha Hall. On both sides is the gallery and its house. The size of the Buddha statue ranks first among the temples in Xi 'an. The courtyard is lush with trees and quiet environment.

According to Records of Historical Mirrors, Princess Taiping, Dou Huaizhen, Cenxi, Xiao Zhizhong, Cui Kun, Xue Ji, monk Fan Hui conspired with the imperial secretary of Yuanshi County to poison the red arrow powder in the autumn and July of the first year of Kaiyuan in Li Longji, so as to prolong life. After the defeat, Princess Taiping died, and Xiao Zhizhong, Cui Zhuo and Dou Huaizhen were also killed. Since then, monasteries tend to decline.

Wangji Temple is a key cultural relic protection unit in Xi.
