What are Pavlov's life stories?

Pavlov was a great psychologist, but he would not let others call him that until his death. He has studied all his life in fields he didn't want to study when he was young, and he has also made great contributions.

Pavlov was born in Ryazan, central Russia, on September 26th, 1849. He received theological education since he was a child, and then came to Petersburg University to study physiology. Shortly after he got his degree, he went abroad for further study, was loved by the most outstanding physiologists at that time, and set an example. After returning to China, Pavlov entered the Petersburg Military Medical College, devoted all his energy to the research on digestion, and achieved breakthrough research results, so he won the 1904 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine.

Due to the influence of family environment, Pavlov is unwilling to be a psychologist, and even has a hatred for psychologists. No one is allowed to use psychological terms in his own laboratory, otherwise "he will be shot without mercy". However, it is such a person who hates psychology extremely, but he has made a major discovery in psychology-this may not be his original intention!

Pavlov's fame in psychology is due to his study of conditioned reflex. If we want to talk about his research opportunities, we must mention his old job-digestive research. At that time, it was Pavlov's research on dog's digestion that accidentally discovered the method of observing the work of dog's digestive system and pushed him into the field of psychological research. After repeated experiments, he came to the conditioned reflex theory. Later, his achievements were absorbed by behaviorism school and became one of the most fundamental principles that restricted behaviorism.

Next, Pavlov turned his research completely to neurological research, but the experiment still used dogs. Pavlov found in his experiments that some of the dog's reflexes are temporary and can be established, while others need no conditions, thus proving that the brain and higher nervous activity are formed by unconditional reflexes and conditioned reflexes. On this basis, he also pointed out that the neurological difference between humans and animals lies in that besides the direct influence of the outside world, humans have a second signal system-language, which has caused great changes in higher nervous activity. This is also the unique physiological basis of human thinking.

From 1878 to 1890, Pavlov shifted his research focus to the problem of nerve function in blood circulation. During the research, he found a special nutrient nerve in the heart of warm-blooded animals, which can only control the heartbeat. Later, people called this kind of nerve "Pavlov nerve". Neuronutrition was founded at that time.

Pavlov's attitude towards psychology in his later years is no longer as hostile as when he was young. He also said: "As long as psychology explores people's subjective world, it naturally has a reason to exist", but he did not leave any room for himself. Even on his deathbed, his only concern was not to call himself a psychologist. Nevertheless, in view of his great contribution to the field of psychology, people still violated his "will" and regarded him as a pioneer of behaviorism.
