It is said that in ancient times, there was a tribe in the south, and their leader was Zhu Rong. Zhu Rong is very clever. He found that if two stones collide and rub violently, sparks will appear, so that he can make a fire. He told the discovery to the Yellow Emperor. In order to reward him, the Yellow Emperor gave him an official position and sent him to guard the south.

Zhu Rong came to the south and lived in Hengshan. He taught the local people how to make a fire. People soon learned that they used fire to bake and light things, and when wild animals attacked people, they used torches to drive them away. Fire brought convenience to everyone, and the people lived a good life. Everyone is grateful to Zhu Rong and has great respect for him.

One day, Zhu Rong called together the leaders of various clans in the south, gave them fire and asked them to keep it. But Zhu Rong doesn't know how to put out the fire. He just told everyone to bury the fire underground in case it went out. Who knows, after a while, the fire started to burn, which made the whole Nanyue underground a sea of fire. The underground torches scorched the ground, flowers and trees died, the water in the river boiled and crops could not be planted. Everyone has no food, is hot and hungry, listless, and can't stand still.

There is a dragon who lives by the Xiangjiang River not far from Hengshan Mountain. At this time, the Dragon Palace is like a steamer. It was too hot for him, so he had to ask his father who lived in Nanhai for help. Xiangjiang Zi Long wrote a letter and sent his cronies to the South China Sea. The Dragon King of the South China Sea received a letter from his son. When he learned about his son's recent situation, he was very anxious. But this Nanyue Mountain is thousands of miles away from the South China Sea. As the saying goes, you can't hydrolyze your thirst far away. What shall we do? The tortoise next to us stood up and said, Your Majesty, how about this? Let's turn seawater into gas, into clouds and blow it to Nanyue. Clouds turn to rain, it will rain for three days and nights, and then we will talk about emergency first. ? The dragon king thought what he said was reasonable, so he quickly sent people to soak in the sea. In this way, the water in the South China Sea was soaked for three feet and three inches.

But the dragon king's water can only temporarily alleviate the heat on the ground, but it can't solve the fundamental problem. The underground fire is still burning. Not long after, the Dragon King of the South China Sea visited Nanyue and saw that the Fiona Fang of Nanyue was full of water, and the houses of ordinary people were all soaked in the water. The dragon king and his son walked from the former mountain to the back mountain, and from Dongshan to Xishan. When they met the old man, they asked. One day, they came to a ravine and saw an old man with gray hair chiseling a stone. This stone is very strange, only a hole on the left and a hole on the right, like a big honeycomb. The dragon king was very surprised and asked, what are you doing, old man? The old mason looked up at the well-dressed old man in front of him, sighed and said, alas, you are a foreigner. There was a disaster here recently, which was both a fire and a flood. It turned out to be a fire. Later, Wang Lailong tried to put out the fire. Therefore, over the years, Nanyue has always been warm in winter and cool in summer, and everyone likes to live here.

In order to thank the Dragon King and Long Long for their great kindness, people specially built a Nanyue Temple and carved a dragon out of white marble in front of the main hall of the temple.
