On Fortune-telling in Zhouyi

First of all, the Book of Changes is the art of divination. Later generations used Li Yi to explain numerology, but fortune-telling is not as popular as Ziping and Wei Zi. Divination is used to solve doubts, and fortune-telling is used to predict fate, so it has different functions. The methods are different.

1 Zhouyi is a book of divination. It is not a mathematical calculation to obtain divination images according to professional methods and then refer to divination characters.

The words of divination are fixed reference objects, but the images of divination are symbolic and need to be understood by themselves. Therefore, hexagrams are written reports, and the results vary from person to person rather than ambiguous. The algorithm of fortune-telling has formulas, but it is far more complicated than mathematical calculation, because it needs to consider profit and loss.

As I said before, Zhouyi is divination, which is different from the general understanding of fortune telling. Divination includes tortoise divination, spiritual chess, spiritual sign, miscellaneous occupations and so on. It is not as profound and systematic as the Book of Changes. Fortune-telling includes Yi Li, Xingyun, bird-hunting, Ziping, Wei Zi and so on.

It usually takes years, months, days and hours. Can push people's temperament, wealth, longevity, illness, six relatives, career, etc. Referring to the Universiade, we can know the ups and downs of life.

Theoretically, fortune-telling is slower than divination, but it depends on proficiency.
