The Historical Evolution of Shiqiaotou Town

Exploring the source of Shiqiaotou Town in Wenling is nothing more than these three things. One is a stone, the other is a stone bridge, and the third is a stone bridge head.

According to the local people, the origin of stones is very high. Legend has it that Shiqiaotou Town in ancient times was Wang Yang. It is adjacent to Songmen, Tengling and Baifeng, all important military sites in ancient times and a coastal defense fortress in eastern Zhejiang.

The mountain was gradually absorbed by the ancient Wenling people who carved stones. They opened a canal to connect the spring with the rolling Mucheng River. While digging a stone, it is connected with the cave in the new river valley. This is the origin of the two most famous scenic spots in Shiqiaotou Town-Luanyan and Renshui Reservoir. Since then, literati, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism have practiced here.

According to the genealogy of Pan Feng (now in the area of Ruoheng, Li Ao, Wenling), "In the middle of Kangxi, there were more than 50 Luanyan temples with countless monks and Taoist priests." In addition, today's Shiqiaotou people came here from all directions to settle down.

But it was soon discovered that the river dug by our ancestors often became moody because of the water level in the wooden city of Hanoi, which hindered the traffic on both sides of the river. As a result, the local people stopped the eastern end of the river, piled up and expanded the rocks, and successively bordered Tengling Mountain, Niutou Mountain and Mabu Mountain, enclosing the human reservoir. Along the rocks and rivers, another small canal goes directly into the South China Sea. This is the only main channel of Shiqiaotou, which still exists today. At this point, the stone bridge head changed its old predicament, the flood washed away, and the mountains gradually softened.

In the 20th year of Kangxi (1820), the local aristocrat Wang Zonggong specially moved octagonal headlights, embroidered dragons on the lake and exotic totems here to celebrate the imperial grace and the aura brought by the rocks, and put them on Shihuang Road in Shiqiaotou Town today for people to worship and appreciate. According to local rumors, the poem written by Huang Zhuo, a scholar and Taiping Sandu (now Shiqiaotou, Wenling) during the reign of Qing Dynasty, can prove this point. Unfortunately, the author has not been able to find them so far.

Because of the appearance of king lanterns, Shiqiaotou people gradually began to pay attention to the construction of bridges, because according to local craftsmen, most of the bridges built on the river in those years were mainly wooden structures, in order to let more worshippers and spectators see the real scene of Shiqiaotou's lamp culture, stone culture and water culture. Therefore, we paved the bridge with stone slabs, one for each kilometer, making up eight pieces, and inlaid all kinds of stone paintings, stone lamps and inscriptions on it, and built stone pavilions and stone shops beside the bridge, which meant welcoming all directions and enjoying the spirit of the earth.

Soon, the leaders of Shiqiao, convinced that stones can bring good luck, began to gather on both sides of Shiqiao and hold large-scale markets. Over time, everyone asked where you were going. The man said to go to Shiqiaotou or to chase the sun at Shiqiaotou. I don't know which year, Shiqiaotou became synonymous with place names and was commemorated by people. Luanyan is located on the mountainside of Anshan, about 1 km west of Shiqiaotou Town, facing the northeast. From a distance, under the hillside, under the shade of sparse forests, huge stones are scattered in the meantime, so it is called rocky. The boulder is either leaning high or overlapping against the Lord, which is both male and strange. Behind the rocks, the cliffs are chaotic, towering and abrupt, strange and steep. There are holes in the mountain, most of which are formed by stone roadsides. The largest cave can accommodate more than 70 people, which is a good place for summer vacation. There is a hole through the sky. A ray of sunshine shines brightly and strangely. Several new buildings have been built on the right side of the cave, and the ground floor is connected with the exit on the north side of the cave. People come to the cave to rest or drink tea, and there is an endless stream. From the left side of the cave, you can reach Chaos Cave.

From the foothills to the chaotic caves, the slopes are gentle, the stone steps are winding, the trees are lined, and the wild flowers are fragrant. Pavilions are built along the road for tourists to rest and enjoy the scenery. There is a spring at the foot of the mountain, and the flowing spring water bursts out like pearls. This spring water is clean, sweet and cool, inexhaustible. People in villages and towns often come to pull things and pull carts with their shoulders to drink. Luanyan is located in the west corner of Shiqiaotou Town, about one kilometer east of Anshan. According to legend, in the year of 1 127, Zhao Gou, Song Gaozong, escaped from the nomads from Mingzhou (now Ningbo) and stayed here, burning incense and wishing the world peace and happiness with all the people, and wrote the word "Jie" on the cliff. Later generations built a temple here to commemorate this historic site. The temple has been in disrepair for a long time. During the Hongwu period, he donated money for reconstruction and was named Huiluan Temple. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, due to frequent wars and years of wars, Huiluan Temple was finally destroyed by fire. The present Le Tong Temple was rebuilt in the original site of Luanyan in 1998. The name "Le Tong" must have a profound influence.
