Chaoshan people refer to people from which area?

In fact, Chaoshan people are just a conceptual name, and there is no clear division.

Most people agree that there are three categories:

The first type: defined by modern administrative divisions, including Chaozhou, Shantou and Jieyang today.

The second type: Eight Towns in Chaozhou, namely Fengshun County in Meizhou City, are added on the basis of the above three prefecture-level cities. The combination of these three cities and three counties is basically recognized as "Eight Towns in Chaozhou" by hipsters at home and abroad. -Haiyang (Xiangqiao District, Chaoan County and Fengxi District), Chaoyang (Chaoyang District, Chaonan District and Haojiang District), Jieyang (Rongcheng District, Jiedong County and Jiexi County), Chenghai (Chenghai District, jinping district and longhu district), Raoping (Raoping County and Nan 'ao County) and Puning (Puning City).

The third category: the division of folk customs, except Fengshun, the language and cultural customs of towns and villages east of Lufeng in Shanwei City, including Jieshi and Jiazi, are almost the same as Puning and Huilai in Chaoshan area, so they are not divided by administrative divisions, but distributed in the north and south on the basis of the core area of Chaoshan, and the Chaoshan area is formed by the southern part of Fengshun and the eastern part of Lufeng.
