The Historical Evolution of Gaoping Town

Gaoping developed earlier. According to the Records of Baoqing in Qing Dynasty, Zhaoling (now Shaoyang City, Shaoyang County, Shaodong County, Xinshao and Longhui) was located in Gaoping County in the first year of Wu Baoding in the Three Kingdoms (AD 266). In the first year of Jin Taikang (AD 280), it was changed to Nangaoping. Chen Nan entered Shaoyang. The former site of the county magistrate is located in the ancient site of Xiao 'ao Brigade of Da Qiao Commune, and there are still names such as "Tangxia", "Guan Ying" and "Rome", which was the place where the county government held ceremonies and administrative gatherings. The name Gao Ping has been used ever since. According to folklore, in the early Southern Song Dynasty, Mr. Feng Shui came here to visit Bainiping (now in Gong Yan Gong She) and was deeply impressed by the beautiful terrain. They praised: "There is Chaoyang in Gao Feng in the East, and there are treasures presented by Ni Ping in the West. It's so beautiful!" Later generations took one word from each of these two compliments and named it "Gao Ping". The first theory should prevail.

Before liberation, Gaoping belonged to Gu Yong Town, Xinhua County. 1952 was included in Longhui County, and the seventh district (Luohong) and the eighth district (bridge side) were established. 1956 after the withdrawal of the area, a bridge-side office was established to govern five major townships with 50,000 people. Gaoping People's Commune was founded in 1958, Da Qiao Commune was changed to 196 1, Da Qiao Township was rebuilt in 1984 and Gaoping Town was built in 1985.
