My mother told me to give up my studies, not to take exams for fame and fortune, but to study medicine, saying that studying medicine can make money to support myself and help others. And you can become a famous doctor if you learn medical skills well. This was your father's previous wish.

Later, in Ciyun Temple, I met an old man with an extraordinary appearance and a long beard. He looks like a fairy, so I bow to him respectfully. The old man said to me: You are from the officialdom. You can take the exam again next year and enter the academic hall. Why don't you study?

I told him why my mother told me to give up studying and study medicine. May I ask the name of this old man? Where is he from and where does he live? The old man answered me: My surname is Kong, and I come from Yunnan. I got the true biography of Mr. Shao Kangjie in the Song Dynasty. So he told the county magistrate to go to his business for me and allowed me to make up for Gong Sheng. After these twists and turns, I ate for a while and counted the seventy-one stones I had eaten before. It just made up, a total of ninety-one stones and five buckets. Because of these twists and turns, I firmly believe that a person's fame and fortune is predestined. Fortunately, sooner or later, there is also a certain time, so everything is lighter and not pursued.

When I am elected as "Gong Sheng", according to the regulations, I will go to Beijing National University to study. So I lived in Beijing for a year. All day, I sat still, didn't talk, and my mind didn't turn. I don't look at anything. I went back to the National University in Nanjing for four years. Before I entered the National University, I went to Qixia Mountain to visit Zen Master Yungu, who is a Buddhist monk.

I sat face to face with the Zen master in the meditation room for three days and nights without even closing my eyes. Zen master Yungu asked me: no one can become a saint because he is obsessed with his own thoughts. And you have been sitting quietly for three days, and I have never seen you have delusions. What is the reason?

I said: my life has been decided by Mr. Kong. When you are born, when you die, when you are proud and when you are frustrated, there is a destiny, and there is no way to change it. It is also a waste of time to think about what benefits you will get; So I honestly don't want to, and there is no delusion in my heart. Jackson Yungu said with a smile, I thought you were a great hero, but you are just an ordinary person.

I didn't understand, so I asked him what he said. Jackson Yungu said: an ordinary person can't say that he doesn't have a clear head of thinking; Since there is this constant delusion, it will be bound by yin and yang luck; Since it is bound by the number of yin and yang, how can it be said that there is no number? Although there must be numbers, only ordinary people will be bound by numbers. If you are a kind person, you can't stop him from counting.

Because a very good person, although his fate is doomed to suffer; But he has done great kindness and virtue, and this great kindness and virtue can turn suffering into pleasure, poverty into life, and wealth into life.

And the most evil people can't be detained by numbers. Because a very evil person, although he is destined to enjoy happiness, if he does a great evil, the power of this great evil can turn happiness into disaster and wealth and longevity into poverty and short life.

Your 20 years of life have been decided by Mr. Kong. Instead of a dime to the number, you have been arrested by the number. A person will be detained several times, that is, an ordinary person. So, if you are not an ordinary person, what is it?

I asked Zen master Yungu: In your opinion, can you escape this number? The Zen master said: I create my own life, I seek my own happiness; I create evil, and naturally fold the blessings; I am blessed if I practice well. What was said in various poetry books before is really true and clear. In our Buddhist scriptures, it is said that if a person seeks wealth, he will have wealth, if he seeks children, he will have children, and if he seeks longevity, he will live longer.

As long as you do good, life will not stop him. Because lying is the great precept of Buddhism, how can a Buddha and bodhisattva lie and deceive people?

I still didn't understand after listening to it, so I asked further. Mencius once said: Give whatever you want. This is what I can do in my heart.

If it's not in my heart, how can I ask? For example, morality, benevolence and righteousness are all in my heart. I am determined to be a moral and righteous person, and I will naturally become a moral and righteous person, which I can try my best to seek. If fame and fortune, it is not in my heart, it is outside me, and I can only get it if others are willing to give it to me. If others refuse to give it to me, I can't get it, so how can I get it? Zen master Yungu said: Mencius' words are good, but your explanation is wrong. Didn't you see master Huineng, the sixth ancestor, say that all kinds of blessings are determined by everyone's heart? Happiness is unhappy, there is no Futian to be found outside the heart, and all the blessings are in your heart. As long as you seek happiness from the heart, there is nothing you can't feel!

If you can ask for it from the heart, it is not only the moral meaning in your heart, but also the fame and fortune outside your body, so it is called both internal and external cultivation. In other words, seeking benevolence, justice, happiness and wealth for planting Futian is bound to have benefits.

If a person has fame and fortune all his life, he will get it even if he doesn't ask for it; If there is no fame and fortune in life, you can't get it even if you have exhausted your methods.

Therefore, if a person can't reflect on himself, but just blindly pursue fame and fortune; But if you can't get it, you still leave it to fate, and you are not sure. This is exactly in line with Mencius' two words, seeking the right path and getting a life.

You know, even if you get it, there are still effects in your life, and they are not what you want. So, you only ask for what you can get, and you don't have to ask for what you can't get.

If you persist, not only can you not seek fame and gain outside your body, but you will also lose all your original moral benevolence and righteousness because of excessive chaos and excessive greed. Isn't that a lose-lose? So it's no use asking for anything

Seek wealth, children and grandchildren, and live a long life. Nothing is impossible, impossible! As long as you do good deeds and ask from the heart, your heart is Futian, don't ask for it; Heart is Futian, don't ask for it.

Zen master Yungu then asked me, what is Mr. Kong's fate in your life?

I'll count Mr. Kong in and tell you in detail how he did in the exam in a certain year. If he got an official position in a certain year, he would die at a few years old. Jackson Yungu said: Think for yourself, should you get fame? Should there be a son? I reflected on what I had done in the past and thought for a long time before saying: I shouldn't take the exam for fame and I shouldn't have a son. Because most famous people are blessed.

My photos are very thin, so my happiness is also very thin. Merits cannot be accumulated, but the foundation of good karma can be established. And I can't bear to undertake trivial and heavy things. We can't tolerate other people's problems. Because I am impatient and narrow-minded. Sometimes I am arrogant and put my talent and intelligence above others. Do what you want to do, just talk nonsense. Such actions are all good luck, how can you get fame!

Like to be clean, which is a good thing; But don't overdo it, it will become a strange temper. Therefore, the more unclean the place, the more things come out. On the contrary, clean water can't raise fish.

I like cleanliness so much that I become unreasonable. This is the first reason why I don't have a son.

Between heaven and earth, everything only needs mild sunshine and mild rain to grow. Often get angry, get angry. How can you have a son without a little peace of mind? This is the second reason why I don't have a son.

Kindness is the foundation of life. If you are cruel, you have no compassion. Just like fruit, how can fruit trees grow without nuts? Therefore, forbearance is the root that will not be born; I only know how to cherish my honor, refuse to sacrifice myself to help others and accumulate some merits. This is the third reason why I don't have a son.

Talking too much is easy to get angry. I talk a lot and get angry easily, so I am in poor health. Where can I have a son? This is the fourth reason why I don't have a son.

People live by three spirits; I love drinking, which easily kills my spirit; A person's lack of energy, even if he gave birth to a son, will not live long, which is the fifth reason why I have no son.

A person should not sleep during the day and stay up late at night; I often like to sit all night, refuse to sleep, and don't know how to stay alive. This is the sixth reason why I don't have a son. There are many other mistakes, and I can't finish them! Jackson Yungu said: Don't you just deserve fame? I'm afraid there are still many things I shouldn't get!

When you know whether you are blessed or not, all this is made by your heart. Smart people know that this is self-inflicted; Confused people are pushed to fate.

For example, those who can have a daughter's career in this world must be those who enjoy the daughter's happiness;
