The so-called "heavenly stem" is the arrangement symbol of ten orders, such as nail, B, C, D, E, self, G, Xin, Ren and Gui, which means the order between heaven and earth. In ancient times, "ten-day work" was used to record the days, and later it evolved into the order of certain things, such as: A, B, C, D, A, B, C, D in academic performance, A and B in physical examination. 2. Twelve Earthly Branches
The so-called "earthly branch" is to arrange twelve symbols such as Zi, Ugly, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu and Hai in order. These twelve symbols also imply the order between heaven and earth. There are twelve earthly branches, so it is also called "Twelve Earthly Branches". In ancient times, the twelve earthly branches were used to record the months. At present, it is rarely used except almanac.
3. Sixty jiazi
Later, the ancients found that it was not enough to record the sun and the moon with only ten days of dry and twelve earthly branches, which was easy to be confused, so they arranged and combined the ten days of dry and twelve earthly branches. That is, the "A" of heavenly stems matches the "Zi" of earthly branches to become "Jia Zi"; The ugly ground branch matches the "B" of heavenly stem and becomes the "B ugly"; The "C" of heavenly stems matches the "Yin" of earthly branches to become "C Yin", and so on, and finally the following sixty sequence symbols are obtained. They are Jia Zi, Yi Chou, Bing Yin, Ding Mao, Chen Wu, Keith, Geng Wu, Xin Wei, Ren Shen, Gui You, Jia Xu, Yi Hai, Bing Zi, Ding Chou, Wu Yin, Ji Mao, Chen Geng, Xin Si, Ren Wu, Gui Wei, Shen Jia, Yi You and Ding Chou. These sixty symbols, from Jiazi to Guihai in turn, are called "Sixty Jiazi" and are used to calculate time and year. It is often called sixty years, and it also comes from this.
4. Annual, monthly, daily and hourly branches
In the Gregorian calendar, years, months, days and hours are all represented by sixty branches. According to the records in Time Spectrum, the Yellow Emperor was founded in 2698 BC (that is, the first year of the Yellow Emperor), and fought with the rebel Chiyou in the land of Zhuolu, bleeding for hundreds of miles, but still unable to quell the chaos. So the Yellow Emperor fasted and worshipped heaven, and heaven was the main branch. The Yellow Emperor used ten dry circles to make a picture of the sky and twelve squares to make a picture of the ground, killing Chiyou and Zhu. The Yellow Emperor took the wind behind him as the phase and the shepherd as the general. In 2696 BC (the third year of the Yellow Emperor), he was ordered to make a calendar.
As can be seen from the above, in 2696 BC, the main branch was Jiazi, once every 60 years, repeatedly. 1984 (seventy-three years of the Republic of China) is seventy-nine years of Jiazi, arranged in the order of sixty Jiazi, and 200 1 year (ninety years of the Republic of China) is of course the year of Xinsi, so there will be the word "Xinsi" on the cover of the 90-year yellow calendar.
The annual main branch circulates once every 60 years, and the monthly main branch circulates once every 60 months, with a round of 5 years. The monthly expenditure is now in the first line of each month in the yellow calendar. Take the Gregorian calendar of 1990 as an example. Under 1 month of the 90-year national calendar, you will find the words "ugly month", which is the continuation of1February of the 89-year national calendar.
