First, I think the author overemphasizes the difference between father and mother, which is repeated from time to time. Mother gives care to life, gives a sense of security and interest in learning, while father, as a builder of self-confidence, gives a way of thinking, cultivates logic and shapes brave, firm and persistent characters.
The author's father may give it to many other people's mothers. In many families, the interest may be given by the father. In addition, when writing about the mathematical thinking and learning of boys and girls, the author will feel that there are differences between them, but I also feel that there is no such difference. Although the development speed of boys and girls is different, there may be differences in a certain period, but I always feel that the differences are between individuals, not between sexes.
Second, there are mistakes in the book. The question on page 143: "Think about two numbers in 1~ 10; Add two numbers; Multiply by10; Add the larger of the two numbers; Subtract the smaller of the two numbers. " He later said it must be three digits. You don't say! As long as the sum of these two numbers is less than 10, it is a double digit! There is such an obvious mistake in a math problem? The author himself has always stressed that mathematics should be rigorous. Is it so rigorous?
Third, the content is slightly repetitive. Although I understand the author's painstaking repetition of important things to deepen his impression. But I still feel that some words have been repeated too many times.
In the ninth part, "Abstract thinking is bred from guessing games", the guessing of numbers, the inversion of three numbers and the guessing of age are all mentioned seriously in the second part, "Stories between numbers". Does it mean that the readers of this book didn't read the book so carefully and turned it over before they understood it, so they read the ninth book and then read the author's slow analysis with relish?
Of course, these things I don't like are not very important, and the flaws are not hidden. This book is well worth reading.
