Brief introduction of Xu Xiake's former residence

Xu Xiake (1587— 164 1) is an outstanding traveler and geographer in China. His former residence is in Nanqi Village, Mazhen Town, Jiangyin (Mazhen Town has been renamed "Xuxiake Town" to commemorate this great man). At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Xu Junquan, Xu's nephew, was rebuilt during the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. By 1984, there were only seven wide tile houses left, 1985, and the government allocated funds for overhaul. There are three entrances, seventeen main rooms and two wing rooms, covering an area of two acres. On the front of the gate hangs a plaque inscribed by Comrade Lu, "Former Residence of Xu Xiake", and pantographs are hung on both sides. Behind the door, there is a brick forehead engraved with "rope is the ancestor". Before the first entrance, there is a yard with wings on both sides and flower beds on everything. In front of the main hall, there is a brick carving that connects the past with the future. The wing and the main hall are turned into exhibition rooms to display Xu Xiake's life story and lava specimens. There is an ancient Chinese pine tree left in the second well, which is said to have been planted by Xu Xiake for about 400 years. The second entrance hall is the "Worship Hall", with the portrait of Xu Xiake hanging in the middle, the paintings and calligraphy works created by contemporary painters in memory of Xu Xiake, and the scenic photos of Xu Xiake's travels around the world. Shui Sheng Bridge was built on the pillow pond river in front of Xu Xiake's former residence. It is said that it was the anchorage of Xu Xiake's ships. This bridge has a history of about 400 years. 1985 reconstruction, maintaining the style of Jiangnan Bridge in Ming Dynasty.
