One autumn day more than two thousand years ago, shortly after Qin Shihuang got the consent of the whole country, a clever warlock, with countless treasures of gold and silver, led hundreds of boys and girls to the East and disappeared into the vast sea. Their behavior has also become one of the most intriguing mysteries in the history of navigation in this country.

This warlock is Xu Fu. Xu Fudong's crossing can be said to be the first organized sailing in China.

Since the reunification of the country, Qin Shihuang has set his sights on the land of vast expanse. During the Western Han Dynasty, a book "Ten Countries at Sea" written for Xishuo explained the reason why Xu Fudong went to the east. According to the book, there are ten continents in the sea of Wang Yang in all directions. The ancestral continent is in the middle of the East China Sea, 500 miles around and 70,000 miles offshore. There is immortal grass on it, like seedlings, which is three or four feet long. Within three or four days of death, people can be brought back to life by covering them with this grass. It can live forever.

The book also said that in the palace, a bird like a crow landed on a dead man's face with this grass in its mouth, and that man soon came back to life. The guardian was very surprised and told the first emperor about it. Qin Shihuang took this kind of grass to interrogate Mr. Guigu, who said that this kind of grass grows in the middle of Qiongtian, Zuzhou, East China Sea and is called "nourishing the spirit". A plant can save a person and make him live forever. Qin Shihuang was overjoyed and hinted that he would lose.

At this time, a warlock named Xu Fu volunteered and said to Qin Shihuang: "There are three sacred mountains in the East China Sea, called Penglai, Abbot and Yingzhou, where immortals live. I am willing to pursue the elixir for the emperor. " Qin Shihuang was overjoyed and immediately agreed.

Soon, Xu Fu came back with a small sum of money given to him by Qin Shihuang, and a few months later. He didn't bring any elixir to the son of heaven, but he brought back a sentence.

What exactly did he say? Sima Qian's Historical Records? Huainan Hengshan Biography has a specific description:

He also sent Xu Fu to the sea to ask God for a foreign body, saying, "When I saw the Great God in the sea, I said,' Are you an evil envoy of the Western Emperor?' I replied, "Of course." What do you want? Say,' I want to ask the medicine to die in the middle'. God said,' You have a gift from the King of Qin, so you should watch it and don't take it. That is, I went from the southeast to Penglai Mountain, and I saw Zhicheng Palace Que. There was a bronze dragon-shaped messenger who lit up the sky. Therefore, the priest bowed again and asked, "What should I offer?" Poseidon said, "If a famous woman can help her finish her work, she can finish it." Qin said, send three thousand men and women, and all kinds of work will continue.

Xu Fu's words made Qin Shihuang very happy and immediately agreed to his plea. He not only sent hundreds of workers, but also selected 3000 men and women to accompany him, and also brought seeds of various grains.

However, chui fook this to, never come back.

Xu Fudong is in a state of mobility inconvenience.

So where did chui fook go? "Historical Records" said, "Xu Fu has a wide plain, so Wang will not come." That is to say, Xu Fu found a plain with many lakes, so he took it up, and he became king and never came back.

The earliest history of Xu Fu's decline is "Is it Han Shu? Biography of Dongyi, the book says that Xu Fu can't get the fairy medicine, and he is afraid of being killed for bullying the monarch, so he stays in Yizhou happily. The book also says that the people with Cui Fu have been living there, and the number has reached tens of thousands. They often come to Huiji to buy cloth.

However, where is this "Zhou Zhou"? Shi Chengzhong did not hand over.

In Chinese mainland, there are not many places that can be called "plains and vastness". One is Luzon Island (now the Philippines), the other is Taiwan Province Province, the third is Japanese, and further away is the vast American continent. Luzon and Taiwan Province Province are actually not in the west. If Xu Fu continues to move eastward, his foothold can only be in Japan, probably in the United States.

Many scholars put forward the theory of "American colonization".

They thought that Xu Fu was constantly crossing eastward and reaching the American continent. Their proofs are as follows: First, China's stone carvings were invented on the coast of America two thousand years ago; The bones of Indians are very close to those of China; In the Mayan languages of America, there are still ancient sounds in China and dialects in the hinterland of China. Modern American pen and ink are very close to Chinese characters; Indians' calendars, music and costumes are basically contrary to those of China's predecessors. Their customs, such as setting up shrines in the main hall, setting up incense tables, sending kitchen gods on New Year's Day, and shooting the sun after Yi, are contrary to China. Indian handicrafts such as bow and arrow making and silver thread making are opposite to those in China, and their medicine and massage techniques are also close to those in China. Twisted yarn and spun yarn unearthed in South China and modern textiles in the United States: Some ancient coins and mirrors of China were unearthed in Mexico, and the appearance and kimono of the unearthed clay sculptures were similar to those of China's predecessors. Chileans take "China" as their pet name, calling boys "Sidoni" and girls "Chidani", which means "Little China" and "Little China girl". Chileans' faces, such as hair and eyes, are very similar to those of China. Some scholars believe that Chileans are modern immigrants from China and are related to China people.

Can we say that these people are descendants of China people brought by Xu Fudong? Of course, it is impossible to completely clean up this possibility.

But more scholars tend to go to Japan.

This concept was first put forward by monk Yi Chu of Kaiyuan Temple in Jeju in China in the Five Dynasties and the Later Zhou Dynasty. He said in "The Sixth Book of the Book of Changes", "Japan is also called Japan, in the East China Sea. In the Qin Dynasty, Chui Fu stopped the country with 500 men and 500 women. People today are like Chang 'an. Thousands of miles southwest, there is a mountain called Mount Fuji, also known as Penglai? Xu Fu came here, called Penglai, and all his descendants are called Qin. " This statement comes from his Japanese friend and monk Zhong. Therefore, the legend of Xu Fudong's crossing to Japan has already spread in other parts of Japan, saying that the Japanese are the heirs of Xu Fu and others is the voice of the Japanese in advance.

In Song Dynasty, Ouyang Xiu made a complete statement about Xu Fu's arrival in Japan. In Song of Japanese Knife, he said: "It is said that his country lives on a big island, and the custom of being old in mud is good. The first Xu Min? Xu Fuxing's books have not been burned, and hundreds of books have escaped, which still exist today. " Some details of Xu Fu's arrival in Japan were further handed over.

At this time, many works of China, Japan and North Korea were loaded with the story of Xu Fu's arrival in Japan. According to the suicide note of Xu Fu's seventh-generation uncle Qin Fushou in Japan, Mr. Ino Ryong, chairman of the Japanese Chuifu Society, listed the names of 528 children, men and women and hundreds of workers led by Xu Fu in the book Yayoi sun gear.

Chui Fu Park in Japan and Chui Fu crossing the sea in Japan are both unpopular in Japan.

Many scholars have also expounded the authenticity of Xu Fu's arrival in Japan from folk customs, phonetics, pen and ink input, navigation skills, medicine, religion, music, cultural and economic exchanges between China and Japan, and a small number of Qin cultural relics unearthed in Japan. Many scholars believe that it is the result of the progressive culture brought by Xu Fu and others that makes the naturalness of heaven surge from the Stone Age (rope-grain age) to the yayoi age where rice can be harvested, sericulture, weaving and steelmaking can be carried out.

However, many people are skeptical about Xu Fudong's trip to Japan. They think the secondary doubts are as follows:

First, does Fu really exist in history? Because historical materials do not list Xu Fu's life story, residence and family origin, some people think that there is basically no such person in this world, and at best, he is just a legendary figure recorded in historical books according to some legends.

Secondly, according to Japanese folklore, Xu Fu taught many martial arts to uncivilized Japanese people, including papermaking and growing tobacco. The invention and improvement of papermaking will be completed by Zen master Cai Lun in the Eastern Han Dynasty, that is, more than 300 years later. On the other hand, tobacco was brought back to Europe from America by Columbus in the15th century, and then spread all over the country. Chuifu doesn't know what tobacco is.

It can be seen that folklore is actually incomplete, and it is necessary to pick up gold from the sand.

Third, Chinese characters were not introduced into Japan until the third century. If Xu Fu really came to Japan, why didn't he have Chinese characters in advance and didn't use them until 400 years later?

So some people say that if there really is Xu Fu, he must be a hero liar. He even broke the traditional life. After defrauding the rich jade of Qin Shihuang and a few virgins of technicians, he ran away and didn't know where to hide and suffer. I'm afraid it's not clear whether he will go or not. Even if he really went to Japan and brought progressive culture to Japan, it was by no means his original ambition.
