Travels of Private Soldiers: The Birthplace of Younan Zongchan —— A Record of Nanhua Temple

Nanhua Temple is located on the bank of Caoxi in the southeast of Maba Town, qujiang district, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province. It is also known as the four famous temples in Guangdong with Kaiyuan Temple in Chaozhou, Nanhua Temple in Shaoguan, Guangxiao Temple in Guangzhou and Qingyun Temple in Zhaoqing.

Nanhua Temple was built in the Southern and Northern Dynasties with a history of 1500 years. It is the birthplace of Huineng, the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, and the sixth Brahma temple in my plan to visit 100 temples.

Zhaoqing Dinghushan high-speed railway goes to Guangzhou South Railway Station, and there is a bus from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Shaoguan. Shaoguan Station is high-speed railway station, and there is no.23 bus to Songjiang College, passing by Nanhua Temple Scenic Area.

Hotels and farmhouse restaurants are everywhere around Nanhua Temple. Everyone knows that the accommodation in the scenic spot will be higher. If the time is controllable, booking tickets online will be better.

In the evening, when I arrived at the accommodation near Songjiang College, I packed my bags and walked to Nanhua Temple. First, I will look at the route in advance, and second, I will look around for places where I can fill my stomach.

In the past half month, I have a headache about eating. I want to experience the local specialties, but one can't eat several kinds, and the asking price is still high, so it still takes time to find them.

I went to Nanhua Temple early the next morning. According to friends in Guangdong, Nanhua Temple is very famous in Guangdong. From the scene, it seems to be true.

Some people came alone like me, some people came with three friends and four friends, and some people came with the whole family. Not many people like me go to temples purely. Many people come here to burn incense and worship Buddha.

As soon as I entered the gate, I saw devout people start to bow down from here. It is really kowtowing step by step.

My route is Cao Ximen > Shichi > Tianwangtang > Daxiong Hall > Reading Room > Sutra Pavilion > Ancestral Hall > Zhuoxiquan > Xuyun Monk Memorial Hall > Ancient Endless Temple > Cao Ximen comes out.

Nanhua Temple was once called Baolin Temple. The couplet on Baolin Gate: "The first treasure temple in eastern Guangdong, the only way to practice in South China" shows the glory and status of Nanhua Temple to the world.

The Heavenly King Hall, Mahayana Hall and Sutra Pavilion are dedicated to different Buddha statues for people to worship Buddha and make wishes. The ancestral hall enshrines the true bodies of Huineng, Hanshan and Dantian.

Many people come here to worship the Six Ancestors, so for thousands of years, Nanhua Temple and the Six Ancestors have been linked together and resounded at home and abroad.

"Bodhi has no trees, and the mirror is not Taiwan. Nothing, then where did it cause dust? " -Huineng, the sixth ancestor.

After coming out of the mountain, Zhuoxiquan, Xuyun Monk Memorial Hall and Ancient Endless Temple are here. The environment here is quiet, which is very suitable for resting in a daze.

When I passed the Khufu Pavilion, I heard an elder sister ask her boyfriend what constellation it was. She said: if it's a sheep, you can't cross the pavilion, because there is an idiom: sheep enter the tiger's mouth, so if it's a sheep, you can only take two passages.

Pass the Khufu Pavilion, climb the steps, and walk into the stone gate that says "World Treasure Forest". Behind the door is the Nine Dragon Wall and Zhuoxi Spring. Many people are waiting in line, washing their hands or drinking spring water to pray for themselves.

Out of Shimen westbound, you arrive at Xuyun Old Monk Memorial Hall. There is a couplet in front of the main hall: it is always fate to be a teacher, and it is always fate to come to the Buddhist land.

The pagoda of the old monk Xu Yun is not far away, so we can go and see it together, and we can also learn more about the life story of the old monk Xu Yun around the pagoda.

Follow the direction of the arrow and you will come to the endless temple. It can be seen from the name that a nun is practicing here. When I entered the Hall of the Great Hero, I heard someone chanting in class. Walking into the yard, I found a yogi kneeling in front of the Buddha statue and chanting.

Very touching, a person has his own beliefs, but also a beautiful scenery that can be devoted wholeheartedly.

Not far from Endless Temple, come to Caoximen and leave the temple.
