Liu Che (Huang Xiaoming), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, was originally a prince with ambition but no real power. He made friends with ambitious young people, such as Zhang Tang (Zhang Mingjian), Guan Fu (Jia Hongwei), Li Ling (Liu Guanxiang) and Guo Sheren (Liu Xiaoxiao), and called himself a "princeling". Dou Taihou () tried to abolish the Prince and establish the King of Liang in order to safeguard the interests of the Dou family. Liu Che is isolated, and only his sister Princess Pingyang (Emily) treats him sincerely in the palace. At first, Liu Che was trapped by cynicism for many times, until he met (Liu Yijun), Dong Fangshuo (Chen Mingdao) and the famous prostitute Nian Nujiao (Alyssa Chia), which troubled him, and his imperial journey officially began. This play is a historical legend. In order to prevent the audience from confusing history, changes were made before the Beijing version was broadcast. Dong Fangshuo was renamed Oriental Society, Zhang Tang was renamed Zhang Gu, Guanfu was renamed Guanfu, Liling was renamed Li Yong, and Guo Sheren was renamed Guo Deren. Zhang Qian changed its name to Bird. So there are two versions of the name in the play.
