Brief introduction of temples
Lao Gong was the magistrate of Huzhou from eight to twelve years in Chenghua (1472- 1476). Looking up the Ming History and the official records of the old Huzhou, Lao Yue, a native of Dehua (now Jiujiang) in Jiangxi Province, was a scholar in Jingtai for five years (1454), and he was "diligent and prudent, and enlightened in politics" all his life. After Chenghua was in power for eight years, he attached importance to education. At first, he "saw the decline of official school and decided to build it". A year later, the new government school was built. He is "honest and can't do things for personal interests". There are hundreds of bandits in Taihu Lake, a pair of former officials, and they are bribed with gifts, so they have to be rampant. When Lao Yue got off the bus, the bandits did the same thing and were rejected. He was also "afraid of his integrity" and arrested and killed all the bandits in the party. Tired of "being idle in government affairs, it is a generous move to leave the county annals unfinished", so based on the unpublished county annals compiled by Chen Qi, I ordered Bird, a scribe, to enlarge and revise them. For fear of omission, Lao Zhifu "rewrote a book with other scholars in detail" and later became Chenghua's Huzhou government records, known as Lao Zhi in the world.
In the tenth year of Chenghua (1474), Lao Yue ordered Yin Yuanji, a righteous official, to build a temple. In February of the same year, the old temple was demolished, and in August 1 1 Rixin Temple was completed. There are five main temples, five mu high (1 mu 8 feet), twelve mu wide and six mu deep; There are five sleeping temples, "all of which are covered with tiles, and the autumn is covered with texts." The left and right guards are like two gods. The temple "winds south, but ends at the middle gate", "heavy doors cover, dazzling walls" Chen Bingzhong, a resident of the county seat, wrote the story of rebuilding the Chenghuang Temple in Huzhou and set up a monument in the temple. There is an article saying that Lao Yue died of killing insects and eating locusts for the people, or he died of overwork. It's all word of mouth and hearsay. According to historical records, there was no locust plague in Huzhou during Chenghua years, and Lao Yue did not die of illness. According to the "Huzhou Chenghuang Temple Old Yue Monument", Lao Yue died on June 13th in the 12th year of Chenghua. On that day, Lao Yue "suddenly took a bath in the hall, bid farewell to the scholar-officials, and died without illness". About 100 years after Laoyue's death, he was honored as the God of Huzhou Prefecture. Specializing in the Old Palace Temple (commonly known as the Old Palace Temple) dedicated the statue of the old Yue in the original temple, and built the "Huzhou Chenghuang Old Palace Temple Monument", which was inscribed by Lu Wen, a county person, and was built in the temple in June of the first year of Wanli. Since then, Huzhou Confucian Temple has been called "the temple among temples".
From the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, the temple was repaired many times. Ming Jiajing was rebuilt in three years (1524) and thirty-nine years (1560); It was rebuilt in the seventh year of Wanli (1578). It was rebuilt in the second year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1663); In the fifty-third year of Qianlong (1788), Leilun, the magistrate of Huzhou, was rebuilt. He wrote Rebuilding the Monument of Huzhou Chenghuang Temple, which was erected in the temple in the leap month of fifty-seven years. This monument exists.
In the past, the Confucius Temple in Nanjing, the Town God Temple in Hangzhou and the Mystery Garden in Suzhou were also places of entertainment besides religious and sacrificial activities. As a place of worship, Zeng Yu offered sacrifices to the God of Huzhou City. Jingtai in Ming dynasty was full of disasters. In the 4th year of Jingtai (1453), from November to May in the 5th year of Meng Chun, the mountains were closed due to heavy snow, and the ships were blocked due to the freezing of the ports in Taihu Lake. In the fifth year, the seedlings of Hangjiahu were injured by heavy rain, which lasted for more than 60 years. Summer floods and autumn droughts led to starvation. Huzhou Prefecture reported that the court "ordered the Governor and Prime Minister Sun to worship the City God Temple". "Huzhou City God Sacrifice Monument" was set up in the temple in June of Jingtai six years ago. Historically, the religious activities of the Confucian Temple were hosted by Taoism, and the Confucian Temple was also a Taoist view hosted by Taoism. Temples are also places for people to entertain. Throughout the year, artists such as drama, juggling and magic come here to perform. It is also the birthplace of rap Huzhou Book Lake. Before the war, there was a shopping mall made in China, where there were all kinds of snacks and department stores, as well as superstitions such as astrology, divination and fortune telling. It is colorful and full of miracles.
