After Dayu died, why did his son Kai inherit the throne?
As we know, China's slave society began in the Xia Dynasty. The first emperor of the Xia Dynasty was Qi (Qi said that his father Yu was the founding emperor of the Xia Dynasty), and Qi's father was Yu (also known as Dayu). The Dayu era was the primitive social era of China. At that time, we knew that the throne inherited the abdication system, Yu inherited the throne of Shun, and Shun inherited the throne of Yao. But why did the way of inheritance change when it reached Yu? From abdication to family system. In fact, it took a lot of trouble for Dayu to pass the throne to his son Qi, which can be said to be painstaking, and finally the throne was successfully passed to his son Qi.
At that time, the abdication system was deeply rooted in the hearts of the people after Dayu succeeded in harnessing water and inheriting the throne of Shun. Although Dayu hoped to pass the throne to his son, the conditions at that time did not allow it, because there was still a fairly mature institution in selecting successors at that time, and before that, this institution had no precedent for the former emperor to pass the throne to his son. However, how could Dayu succeed in passing the throne to his son? Looking through the history of Dayu, it is not difficult to find that Dayu finally succeeded in passing the throne to his son Qi, and finally succeeded in passing the throne to his son Qi with three tricks up his sleeve.
The first move is to reuse your son politically. Throughout, Yao passed the throne to Shun, and Shun passed it to Yu. The fundamental reason is that Yao's son and Shun's son didn't do much in politics, but let his son do what he loves. For example, Yao's son devoted himself to learning Go, while Shun's son still devoted himself to singing and dancing, but neither of them achieved convincing results. Although everyone wants to pass on the throne to their son, their achievements are not outstanding, so in the end there is no way but to pass it on to those who have power and influence. Therefore, after Dayu succeeded to the throne, he learned the advice of his predecessors, chose the most prominent son Qi from five sons, and then used his power to reuse his son Qi politically, slowly handing over all the affairs of the country to his son Qi. In this way, the world has formed such an idea that Qi, the son of Dayu, is a very powerful person. Without Qi, important affairs are really difficult to manage, let alone politically. Therefore, the reason why Kai finally inherited his father's business is inseparable from Dayu's key training.

The second trick is to make Hao Tao, who is older than himself, the heir. At the beginning of his succession, Dayu naturally pretended to imitate his predecessors and pretend to implement the abdication system. At that time, there were two very subtle people, one was Hao Tao and the other was Boyi. Dayu initially thought that Hao Tao was the heir to the throne, but Hao Tao was much older than himself. However, Dayu appointed Hao Tao as his successor, gave him many administrative affairs to deal with, and asked his son to help him deal with them. Hao Tao died of illness, and so did his heir. However, because his son Kay has been helping to handle all kinds of official duties, Kay's prestige has come out, and everyone thinks that Kay can take the place of handling official duties.
The third move, the heir is designated as Boyi, but the power is given to Kay. After Hao Tao's death, according to the rules of succession at that time, only Boyi succeeded to the throne. It is impossible for Dayu to violate this regulation and designate Boyi as the heir, giving him high honor and status. As long as he was in charge of animal husbandry, although Boyi made great achievements in animal husbandry, Dayu handed over the military and political power to Qi. Therefore, although Boyi is an open heir, everyone will go to Qi to handle affairs. Over time, everyone will go to Qi to handle affairs.
At sunrise, Dayu sat on his throne and died in 15. Although Boyi inherited the throne on the surface, Boyi is nominal, because power is concentrated in Kay's hands, and because everyone has to go through Kay's consent when handling affairs, so Kay is actually the heir in the eyes of everyone in the world. At this time, Boyi and others saw that Kay's kindness to himself was a threat, so they ordered Kay to be detained. Of course, Kay had a reason, and everyone only listened to Kay. Under Kay's orders, a group of his cronies killed Boyi in turn, so everyone worshipped Kay as emperor. This incident is recorded in Han Feizi in two places: "Yi was replaced by Li Yu, and the arrest was forbidden, and Yi was killed for inheriting from Sri Lanka"; Or, "The death of Yu of the ancient people spread the interests to the world, and the awakened ones stood up for the interests of each other." There is also a similar record in the Warring States Policy: Yu granted benefits, while Kai was an official and he was old, but Kai was not enough to serve the world, and the benefits were scattered. Qi also supported one side to attack the interests and seize the world, which spread the interests to the world in the name of Yu, but actually let Qi take it. It can be seen that after Dayu's death, the battle for the throne in Boyi was quite fierce, and finally Kay won the throne. The fundamental reason why Kai finally won the throne was that his father had implemented three tricks before his death. The Warring States Policy clearly stated that "Yu is famous all over the world, but Kai actually took it himself." Therefore, the story of Dayu was invented by the author because of his son's fault, which is implied by history.
At this point, China's throne changed from abdication to family system, and China society entered a class slave society.
