Shanxian county is located in the south of southwest Shandong depression, which is a part of Taiwan Province depression in North China. Its territory is unevenly distributed, with Heze-Yutai Depression in the north, Shanxian Uplift in the middle and the northern margin of Yucheng-Huangkou Depression in the south. The whole area is covered by Cenozoic Quaternary, and in some areas, the strata are rich in metal and nonmetal deposits. In the vertical slope of Quaternary, there are back channel depression, gentle slope depression and shallow depression. It is proved that there is placer gold in the south of Huanggang town in Shan county, and there is placer gold enrichment zone along Zhudikou-Dazhaozhuang-southwest and northeast of Changliu.
