Ranking of Three Effective Temples in Shanghai

The most influential temples in Shanghai are Bao Hua Temple, Hongfu Temple, Panlong Temple, Biyun Jingyuan and Fengxian Wanfo Pavilion.

1, Shanghai Bao Hua Temple

Bao Hua Temple, also known as Huiji Bao Hua Temple, was founded in the reign of Xianchun in the Southern Song Dynasty. Ming and Qing rebuilt twice. It is a temple with the architectural style of Jiangnan in the Song Dynasty, where Buddhist believers burn incense and worship Buddha.

2. Hongfu Temple

Hongfu Temple, also known as the Red Temple, was founded in the 30th year of Qing Qianlong (A.D. 1766). According to legend, Emperor Qianlong went down to the south of the Yangtze River and passed by here. The people praised him as "a great blessing in heaven", hence the name.

3. Panlong Temple

The construction date of Panlong Temple is unknown, and the locals commonly call it "ancient temple" or "holy hall". Panlong Temple is a temple with a long history, which is formed by the merger of "Panlong Temple", namely "Pumenjiao Temple" and Tang Sheng Temple.

4. Bi Yun Jing Yuan

Biyun Jingyuan, formerly known as Wangsan Temple, is the oldest Buddhist Dojo in Pudong. Thanks to the infinite merits of Master Kelian and the vast number of believers, an endless stream of pilgrims shuttled through the smoke of Biyunjing Hospital. 5. Fengxian Wanfo Pavilion

Fengxian Wanfo Pavilion is a large-scale Bhikuni Dojo in Shanghai. It was built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 600 years. Most of the existing temples were built in the Qing Dynasty.
